Walmart security tries to take baby away from Mom...? (correct link)
Edited on Tue Sep-11-07 05:15 PM by FormerRushFan
...and you thought asking to see your receipt was intrusive!

MySpace entry:
http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=48433983&blogID=308642870

"...The next thing I know a security guard is asking me to hand him Ava. Evidentially someone in the store had their baby in a cart and someone rolled the cart away. Moron parent if you ask me if someone can just roll your child away from you and now you've misplaced your baby..."
...
"They are trying to tell me that Ava is not my child. She started fussing so I began taking her out of the seat. The whole time this security guard is asking me to "give him the baby". FUCK YOU! There was no way I was handing her over! I tried to walk away, leaving her car seat, the diaper bag, even my wallet...they blocked me!..."

5. So...
a baby was missing in the store, and a customer tried to leave with a baby about the same age as the missing baby? And she got offended when she was stopped?

Stupid stupid woman.

6. Read the article. The woman didn't even know that a baby was missing.
Other mothers with babies were allowed to leave.

If, indeed, there was a suspected kidnapping, the whole store should have been locked down, not just one mother with a baby.

8. I did read it
nowhere do I see a reference to other people with children leaving.

If a one-year old white girl was missing, and somebody tried to leave the store with a one-year white girl, the store was right to stop her.

14. Were they right in demanding she hand over her baby?
There is a right way and a wrong way. This was the wrong way. That is the issue.

about what actually happened. Right now all we have is her near-hysterical account.

19. Read further down in the comments section. She told more of the story
there. And that is where she stated that other mothers with babies were allowed to leave.

13. It was HOW they did it, trying to TAKE the baby.
How about taking her and the baby, NOT trying to take the baby. I won't snark. Am tempted, but won't.

10. There was a right way to do that and a wrong way to do that
and "gimme the baby" was the wrong way!

A security guard worth his minimum wage paycheck should have explained that there was a baby missing in the store, and could she please wait until the mom determined that baby wasn't hers?

I think most moms will respond well to that since most moms can identify with the fear of having your child stolen.

I hope the dummy who "lost" the baby got it back and learned a very hard lesson in how to be more careful.

11. The whole thing was approached in the wrong way
It is not that hard to comprehend from that situation was handled wrong, yet you call the woman stupid.

15. She got offended when some rent-a-cop tried to take her baby away from her
If they thought she'd kidnapped a baby, they should have called the police. If they wanted the mom who lost her baby to take a look at that one, they should have diplomatically asked her to stay. Most moms will understand something like, "A mom with a baby the same age as yours has lost her baby in the store, so we need moms with babies that age to wait in the store for a few minutes." Most moms will freak out from here to next week if someone tries to grab their babies away from them. This is understandable and very predictable.

17. Diplomacy should have been part of his training by Wal-Mart
which is why Wal-Mart was quick to try to diffuse the situation by giving the woman her items without her paying for them- they know they didn't train well enough and that's what caused the problem.
