Officials: Bush to announce troop cut (guess when)
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070911/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_iraq_243
WASHINGTON - President Bush will tell the nation this week he plans to reduce the American troop presence in Iraq by as many as 30,000 by next summer, but will condition those and further cuts on continued progress, The Associated Press has learned.

In a prime-time television address, probably Thursday, Bush will endorse the recommendations of his top general and top diplomat in Iraq, following their appearance at two days of hearings in Congress, administration officials said. The White House plans to issue a written status report on the so-called "surge" on Friday, they said....more of course

BULLSHIT! "cut the troops" next summer, sure, yah, you bet. And when is the election? Oh bullshit.

1. All that does is return us to the pre surge number of troops.
It's nothing.

2. He Won't Do It, Anyway
He'll talk about it, brag about it, campaign for fellow GOPppers on it, but it won't happen. You can make book on it.

12. Actually I suspect we will see a troop reduction and another "things are getting better in Iraq"
campaign. Without it R's are fucked.

7. Same tactic as gas prices.....
They go up and everyone complains, then when they go down to where they were in the first place (which was still high), everyone has been conditioned to think it's wonderful.

10. My head is ready to explode at the gullibility of the public
This is absolutely NOTHING ... It will only restore the same troops levels present in January of this year -- the same levels that apparently COULDN'T keep things secure in Iraq. It's going to be a mess WHENEVER we get out -- why wait another 9 fucking months (and countless American deaths)?

But RatBastard and his cabal will spin this as a big deal and the stupid public (exception for those present) will herald it as "progress" and proof of Asshat-In-Chief's "willingness to compromise." Look, he's withdrawing troops! Look, we're making good progress! Sickening ...

11. He has to withdrawl, the time will be up on the 15 month tours of 30,000
troops. Their are physically NO MORE replacements to meet *surge* numbers. We'll be back down to 130,000+ by late spring '08 regardless of Reports or Betrayus or progress or security. Their are simply no more troops. This is all spin. He's acting like he has a choice in it. If the number stayed at 160,000+ past next Summer, we're looking at a draft.

13. Bush Has Never Had to Do Anything He Didn't Want To; He's Not Going to Start Now!
He will just insist that the soldiers stay there.
