of the US military. If that guy can't answer that question with a resounding "YES!" than they are all way the hell off course with this whole mess & they know it.

Leave it to a Senator to ask a question like that.

7. I'll be honest here--Tweety made a big deal about that, and
I think it's potentially damaging in some ways, but it's not really up to Petraeus to say for sure whether America is safer because of Iraq--his job is to DO Iraq, not set policy. It's up to the POLITICIANS to decide. All GenP can do is his job, and report what is going on in Iraq--I didn't think it was the big "Gotcha!" moment that other people did. I'm glad he didn't say yes, though.

9. But Petreus IS the "face of the war", designated by his less than
intelligent leader! I'm sorry, but I just can't imagine Schwartzcopf, Eisenhower, or any of the other Generals we've had in charge of a war ever saying that!

11. I know, Bush hides behind him, so he was really put on the spot--
he was too honest to lie here, and I give him props for that. Not for much else, but for that. It's up to our elected leaders to take the info and data and decide if America is safer--not him. I'm glad he told the truth.

8. Yes? On the ABC evening newscast?
EXCELLENT!!! It has to start making it into the mainstream to have an impact, and I'm DELIGHTED to hear that ABC ran with that. Chris Matthews was all over it like the proverbial cheap suit on "Hardball," but that's a so-so rated cable show. One of the "newscasts of record" on a big mainstream TV network is another thing altogether. EXCELLENT!!!

Yep, troops. Your "leaders" can't quite put their finger on WHY they have you stuck over there getting shot up and blown to pieces. I am SO glad that this is getting picked up!

It's what we need to reach the "heartland" people with their one-sided news sources. They need to start seeing this stuff. John Dean pointed out on Olbermann last night, I think it was, that when the American people get all the facts, they just instinctively do the right thing. Always. This is a GREAT start!

:woohoo:

BTW - Matthews also referred to ambassador crocker as "this cookie-pusher" with Petraeus. I believe the quote, after running a soundbite of crocker, was "this cookie-pusher with him. Whoa. That's the State Department. We're in trouble."

Which I LOVED!!!
