Pelosi: President’s Policy is a Path to 10 More Years of War in Iraq
Could this mean she's not going along with Petraeus' recommendations? Hope does spring eternal.

President’s Policy is a Path to 10 More Years of War in Iraq
September 11th, 2007 by Speaker Pelosi

President Bush’s policy announced by General Petraeus is a path to 10 more years of war in Iraq. General Petraeus’ testimony to Congress drew a bright line: redeployment is not an option; endless war in Iraq is the Administration’s only option.

Under the Bush plan, 130,000 Americans will remain in harm’s way in Iraq at a cost of hundreds of billions of additional taxpayer dollars. This status quo policy was rejected by General James Jones, whose recent report stated that significant force reductions are possible and that we must reduce our military footprint in Iraq.

The Bush-Petraeus plan of 130,000 Americans in Iraq for 10 more years is not a reduction in our footprint; it is an insult to the intelligence of the American people to call that a new direction. It is a status quo plan that tells the Iraqi government that they do not need to change.

The American people long ago rejected the President’s plan to stay in Iraq, which is why they voted for a New Direction in 2006. Yet, with his veto pen and the 60-vote hurdle in the Senate, the President is preventing the redeployment of our troops, the rebuilding of our military, and the refocusing of our nation’s efforts on fighting terrorism.

6. More words, I'll wait until there is some action from this Dem leadership.
I am tired of all this rhetoric coming from her & the rest of the bunch. When they actually start listening to their grassroots and party faithful, that will be good.

7. Petreus Didn't Close The Deal...Balls In Your Court, Nancy
You can almost feel the "conventional wisdom" winds shift over the past couple weeks.

It began with asshat's bogus photo-op in "Eye-rack"...done in such a ham-handed way it showed weakness not strength. People didn't fall all over themselves at the sight of his assholiness in the "beast of the belly"...instead he was ridiculed. Poll numbers didn't move.

The game now is being lost with Petreus poor performances that have underwhelmed the pundits. Tweety "meltdown" last night over Petreus punting on Warner's question is the most telling change in these winds. The deal with "the base" hasn't been closed...and probably has divided Repugnicans more than they're letting on. The orchestrated nature of this dog and pony show was so transparent by a regime that is so tunnel-visioned into its little universe that it doesn't realize or care how they're no longer winning the PR game...even among their own.

While this regime never says it has a Plan A or B...Plan A was to try to bullshit this war for profit into "popularity" among Repugnicans...that appears to be failing...so now it's Plan B...to put some new lipstick on this pig and pretend it's some kind of "victory".

The game all along has been to give Repugnican incumbents cover through next year's primaries...allow them to waive their flags and not have to make hard choices about Iraq...make the Democrats angst agout it. We'll see if that strategy works.

9. Walk the walk, Nancy...
...we're sick of hearing you talk the talk---with no results.

We're not paying you to read soundbytes. We elected you and
the rest of the Dems, to stop Bush's war and his other
antics which threaten our civil rights and degrade the Constitution.

We don't need more rhetoric. We need you to get off of your butt,
galvanize the Dems, get the votes and do the right things for
this country.

You and your knuckle dragger cohorts in crime own this mess. Listen to those among you who are willing and able to lead you out of your presidents war. If you are being blackmailed into inaction too bad, step forward or aside and do the right thing. We are exhausted by your lack of action! Peace, Kim

18. Well gee Nancy, we've been telling you that all along.
Does this mean that you're now going to stand up to the SOB and defund the war? Or will you simply continue to mouth pious political bullshit and offer up meaningless gestures, all while continuing to fund the war, the death and destruction.

Geez, Nancy, we here in the anti-war camp were telling you this last spring, yet you stayed the course. Don't you think it's time for a change, or will you still play politics with peoples' lives?

24. I watched her little presser
on CSPAN in between the P hearings where she referred to *'s ten year plan. She did not say a word about what she planned to do about it. I got the impression she was going to ride it out and simply label it "Bush's War". That is not good enough and not what Dems were elected to do. Even Hillary is saying in her campaign speeches "I will end this war" and she's not even elected yet. Obama has similar rhetoric. I am mad as hell.

27. None of them are
where the hell did you get the idea they were? What do you think Roadblock Republicans, and exposing this as a propaganda report has been about.

We're supposed to be making a full frontal assault on the Republicans right now - and instead, we've got the left helping the right attack Dems again.

When the hell is this going to stop.
