Does Pelosi sound unhappy to you?
This title is stretching it a bit, me thinks.

Pelosi unhappy about ‘General Betray Us’ ad
By Klaus Marre
September 12, 2007

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Monday expressed her disapproval of MoveOn.org’s ad that referred to Gen. David Petraeus, the commander of U.S. troops in Iraq, as “General Betray Us.”

“I would have preferred that they won’t do such an ad,” Pelosi said. The Speaker said it is not her prerogative “to say how people express themselves” and that the ad is “a demonstration of the frustration that people have about the war.”

MoveOn received heavy criticism for the ad, largely from Republicans who tried to make it a centerpiece of the hearings with Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker on the state of affairs in Iraq.

The group alleged that Petraeus is “cooking the books” and, to justify keeping U.S. troops in Iraq, failed to give Congress a full picture of the situation on the ground there.

The White House also has weighed in on the debate. President Bush’s spokesman, Tony Snow, said earlier this week that the ad likely did not help Democrats. Furthermore, Republicans have introduced measures condemning the ad in both chambers of Congress.

Pelosi, in an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” also said she had “absolutely zero” faith in the Iraqi government and that the troop surge has not achieved its main objectives because there has been a lack of political progress in the war-torn country.

1. "MoveOn" is us.
I'm glad the ad has caused such a stir. The truth usually does.

2. General Betrayus has been a starry-eyed, unrealistic cheerleader for this war
since it began. Why anyone gives him any credibility now given his past idiotic statements about the war is completely beyond me.

God. Americans are so stupid. If it didn't happen on Tee Vee or within the past six months, it didn't happen.

3. Someone point out to me how that ad was in any way inaccurate..

till then, everyone can STFU about it who is whining.

It was the truth, and it pointed out Administration lies that our oh so serious and esteemed leaders did NOT.

4. Move On is great. As far as I'm concerned this ad is right on.
They can be sure they're doing something right when the pugs all get their tails in the air. Hooray for Move On!

5. Nancy, I have zero faith in the Iraqi government, and
in the administration, congress, and judicial branches of our own government to do what is right. The only thing I can count on 100% right now is that all three will continue to maximize the number of deaths and unjust imprisonments possible and attribute them to this unending war and the state of fear ginned up by it and the falsehoods on which it is based. Nancy, you and Reid have hamstrung justice by refusing to prosecute these criminals in the WH and have helped to make the world less safe. Period.

6. Pelosi is a sell out. She might as well go have coffee with Joe Lieberman.
Is Henry Waxman is the last Mohegan to stand against these ass carrots? Is anyone in congress working for us? I always hear them speak like its them and their feelings and thoughts. What about us? They are suppose to represent us, not them! Those rich bastards don't care. I give up. I am an progressive independent from now on.

7. Nancy has apparently not learned how to stand up to Bullies.
The Democrats in Congress appear to always buckle everytime
the GOP raise their voice.

Here is the problem as I see it. The Democrats have been happy
and willing to accept the accusation they are weak on Defense.

I am sorry they are as concrete thinkers as the Republicans.
They permit the Republicans to set up the issue, frame the
issue always as either or. Life aint either or folks. Our
Democrats seem to not have the intellectual ability and pure
guts to say before a camera.---D---it! It is not either
or - here is where I stand.

It will take Guts to say. This is my opinion.

General Petreus (and I do believe this) is a stellar General
in hkis Military Accomplishments. He does great work in Iraq
and it is my understanding that he is highly regarded by
the Troops and his colleagues. The fact is General Petreus
is Political ( as most Generals would never become Gemera;
without Political Skills). General Petreus opened himself
up to this when just before the last Pres. Election , He
jumped in and promoted Bush's policy giving a glowing
account of wonderful things that would occur in Iraq.
Let's be honest--When Casey was fired because he did not
agree with GWB's Plan, is anyone surprised at who the
replacement became. This takes nothing from Petreus as
a General. It says we are all human beings and politics
is a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how it is used.
Show me a General who will undercut the Message of the President
Commander IN Chief and I will show you a goner.

Takes Guts to call out the GOP.

Tell them to their face. The reason they are frothing at the
mouth is:

Petreus was supposed to be Congressional GOP Cover. They
had told the President, to have Petreus give the report because
he(GWB) did not carry credibility with the public.
The GOP were planning to use Petreus to try to convince
their consituents--Iraq a good thing,etc.

Move On struck their cover. Now they have to depend
on their own credibilty. They are furious. That "False
Shock" was just that--false. They are attacking MoveOn
hoping the public will forget the terrible policy they
support.

8. We put the Dem's in for a reason....
not just because they are Dem's. These folks need to remember this is "government OF the people, BY the people, FOR THE PEOPLE" . That may not have been written in the DOI, COTUSA, or BOR-but it is the truth. And unless they want to perish from this Earth-they better start living up to a few principles.

10. Not nearly as unhappy as the families of the soldiers killed in Iraq
Or as the people of Iraq who have lost their loved ones, their homes and basically everything they knew and held dear who now have to live in refugee camps.

12. 'Betrayus'- that play on words comes off as something Rush Limbaugh would come up with.
Isn't he the one who started this juvenile "name game" fad.

11. Madame Squeaker, it's time for YOU to move on, get out of the way,
step down and let a man do the job that you failed to do.

You have no right to criticize others who tell the truth and are trying to get our country back.

 :puke:

13. Personally, I would have preferred if they waited one day until after
Petreaus had at least had a chance to speak. Run the ad between the house and the Senate testimony. At least give the man a chance to speak before you accuse him of betraying us.
