CREW Requests Department of Ed. Audit of NCLB Funds Spent on Neil Bush's Ignite! Learning Products
Neil Mallon Bush, another criminal that should have been taken off the streets long ago-certainly accountable for his role in the S&L "scandal" and much other funny business like Larry King's Franklin Credit and the dark side of helping children learn about BFEE's "family values" and it's own culture of death.

Here's a link to CREW's announcement about Neil Mallon Bush

4.  It's curious how it repeatedly justifies the suspension of the law"?
The blog Media Mindfulness recently looked into a COW lesson relating to habeus corpus and found that "the lesson in dire need of some media literacy. It's curious how it repeatedly justifies the suspension of the law":

If you go to Ignite Learning’s Web site and click on the ‘easy-to-use’ button, what you see is a completely closed system. I think ‘cow’ is an appropriate name. Make your students go ‘Moo’! Making education more like television, which this system seems to emulate, is not the answer. It would appear that in the case of COW the teacher is merely a manager of the curriculum, not an engaged, free thinking agent. There is something terribly frightening about making kids watch lessons in TV-like packages and then train them to repeat what they see. My hope is that kids are savvy and smart enough to see through this crap and reject it outright. I hate to say this but this is one situation when truancy might be the best educational strategy.

Seems to be a Bush trait and Neil's contribution seems to be educating the young in allowing government to break the law.

3. Seatling money from our children's education is a Bush family hobby.

Jeb Bush And The Amazing $8.2 million Web Site

The auditor's report and Education Commissioner James Horne's response reveal the kind of business Gov. Bush has made state government. As the auditors tried to follow the money, they found that the university, in Pensacola, "was awarded the project approximately two weeks before it submitted its proposal and approximately three months before it submitted its application packet." The cart was moving long before the horse was hitched up. What happened is this:

In 1999, Infinity called on the education department, pitching a Web site to help parents and students cope with the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. Three months later, the department gave the university $8.2 million to get it done, and West Florida paid Infinity $7.5 million to do it. The only paperwork the auditor found was in the packet the university provided after the deal was done. "DOE also advised us that, to the best of its knowledge, 'no documentation exists,' " the auditor noted.

The money, the auditor also found, came from an appropriation for contracts, but DOE handled it as a grant. The state didn't seek other bids. It's not as though Infinity bought special equipment for the job; 80 percent of the grant money is for salaries. Tallahassee-based Infinity is holding open a job for Gov. Bush's daughter, Noelle, when she becomes available.

...

It's no surprise that, the auditor says, "payments were made to Infinity without appropriate review of Infinity's work and related billings having been performed." Taxpayers can see what they got for $8.2 million at www.fcatexplorer.com. Upkeep will cost taxpayers $1.5 million a year into Infinity.

Barbara Bush's Hurricane Donation Earmarked for Son's Business
Associated Press: Hurricane Donation Earmarked for Bush Firm:

Former first lady Barbara Bush gave relief money to a hurricane relief fund on the condition that it be spent to buy educational software from her son Neil's company. The chief of staff of former President George H.W. Bush would not disclose the amount earmarked for purchases from Ignite Learning.

Houston Chronicle: Katrina Donation Ignites Debate; HISD Says Focus on Neil Bush's Software Didn't Violate Policy:

As Barbara Bush spent two hours championing her son's software company at a Houston middle school Thursday morning, a watchdog group questioned whether the former first lady should be allowed to channel a donation to Neil Bush's Ignite Learning company through Houston's Hurricane Katrina relief fund.

"It's strange that the former first lady would want to do this. If her son's having a rough time of it, couldn't she write him a check?" said Daniel Borochoff, founder of the American Institute of Philanthropy, a Chicago-based charity watchdog group. "Maybe she isn't aware that people could frown upon this."

Some critics said donations to a tax-deductible charitable fund shouldn't benefit the Bush family.

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole purpose of No Child Left Behind was to be a cash cow for Neil.

7. Thank you CREW. This story has been out there so long.
Another DU Bush Story:
Lehman /JP Morgan pushing to privatize FLA Lottery; Jeb Bush in as new Lehman financial advisor

There are other Florida stories where Jeb Bush was just recently put on a Healthcare company's board and then wham! Florida gets a bill. It's incredible he has ties to Florida companies under investigation for Medicare fraud.

Florida's budget is in a nosedive.

Florida is one of the states that put the prison industrial complex on the map. Now in order to balance the budget, they are suggesting that they are going to release prisoners early.

8. Oh, yes, Jeb Bush benefited from Reading First......big time.
Key Initiative Of 'No Child' Under Federal Investigation

Officials Profited From Reading First Program

By Amit R. Paley
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, April 21, 2007; Page A01

The Justice Department is conducting a probe of a $6 billion reading initiative at the center of President Bush's No Child Left Behind law, another blow to a program besieged by allegations of financial conflicts of interest and cronyism, people familiar with the matter said yesterday.

The disclosure came as a congressional hearing revealed how people implementing the $1 billion-a-year Reading First program made at least $1 million off textbooks and tests toward which the federal government steered states.

"That sounds like a criminal enterprise to me," said Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.), chairman of the House education committee, which held a five-hour investigative hearing. "You don't get to override the law," he angrily told a panel of Reading First officials. "But the fact of the matter is that you did."
