I still find it amazing how people here will call in like droves to complain about ABC's Path to 911 but won't lift a finger to hold GOP contributors accountable for the lack of progressive legislation for the last 12 years.
I find that just as negative as what repukes do, they go after the symbolism but when it comes to real material issues like unemployment insurance, minimum wage, the junk prescription drug benefit, lack of paper ballot laws, and this iraq war for oil
DUers won't lift a finger and hold companies like GE, Exxon/Mobil, Wendy's, Outback Steakhouse, Dominos Pizza acountable for enabling this God forsaken Republican revolution for the last 27 f ing years.
If you won't boycott, I'm sorry to say, then your omisssion of action helps the Republican party repeat their sociopathic laws and actions again and again.
You don't like what I have to say, ok but tough Sh*T I will say it anyway.

How does anyone know what all the folks at DU do and don't do. Did they run a poll or something?

ABC. That movie and ABC showing it when they did, pissed me off as much as any single political event in the last 10 years.

4. Yes but has the war ended? No, not after 4 years. |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-12-07 02:18 PM by liberaldemocrat7
What finger lifting will get this war ending?
When the contributors to the Republican party begin losing money after thousands of people call them and demand the end of the war and other outrages that the Republican party has done.
The war protests, the speeches the organizing has done very little.
You have to hit the friends of the Republican party in their wallets and conduct phone campaigns to thse companies. Until that happens you will get very little.
If you don't like my criticism, sorry but I see what's going on and even the Democrats give us milquetoast and bread and circuses.
Just what the DLC wants to give us.

14. I do my organizing here. People gather here to send and read articles. |
|

It makes sense to do my organizing here and yes I have legitimate criticism of DUers who will call ABC and their sponsors of the Path to 9-11 which in my view on the scale of outrages appears a 3 on a scale of 100 but
the last 12 years of Republican outrages appears a 90 out of 100 but won't lift a finger and call the companies that enables these Republicans. Who enables these Republicans? Companies that sell products like GE, Exxon/Mobil, Wendy's, Rite Aid, Dominos Pizza, Curves for women health clubs.
Yet I don't see any of the left organizations out there organizing phone campaigns to call these companies and holding them responsible for enabling the Republican revolution that has lasted for 27 years now since Ronald Raygun began it in 1980.

17. You're very defensive about your right to criticize and |
|
that probably won't help your efforts to organize. And yes, we post action threads to protest collaborators often. Home Depot, Walmart, the usual suspects.
Why not post an action thread of your own? Imho, you'd get closer to your goal that way.

There were several shows on ABC I liked and I will not watch them now. My kids know that if they are over at my house on Thursday night, they can't watch Grey's Anatomy so they go home.

5. "DUers won't lift a finger" - there you go again. What do you know about DU after one year? |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-12-07 02:26 PM by Bluebear
Every thread you start seems to indict DU and what it does and doesn't do, and how we won't like what you have to say but "tough shit" anyway.
So again, what in the world do you think you know about DU and its members?
I remember one thread where you pompously came in and "declared" a certain boycott "over"! Who ARE you? :hi:

15. Duers lift fingers but not in ways that will stop the Republicans. |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-12-07 02:58 PM by liberaldemocrat7
I should clarify this. I realize Duers complain rightly about the Republicans, but
I do not see DUers lift a finger to call the companies that give the Republicans money and demand the legislation and actions we need and hold these companies responsible for the death, destruction, hardship and poverty that Republicans cause in this country, much less what they do in Iraq.
Duers should consider calling companies like GE, Exxon/Mobil, Wendy's, Outback Steakhouse, Rite Aid as these companeis give the GOP and their candidates money.

18. Good, but you need to do more. |
|
I'm talking about a phone campaign to get these companies to get Bu$h to end the war in Iraq.
Silently boycotting a company will not do enough. I hear and read that alot on here.
I have told people to call GE and to demand they get Bush to end the war and until that happens they won't buy their products.
You have to get in their face with a polite phone campaign. Silence won't end the war.
Complaining to the collaborators of the Republican party will get this war to end especially when thousands of people tell them they will lose your business
and not over a stupid movie on ABC but over a WAR that these companies enabled due to their silence and also their cooperation.

How Ironic your quote: "Power concedes nothing without demand." -- Douglass
but yet you won't make the Demand of war contractor and GOP contributor and GOP collaborator General Electric to get Bush to end the war under penalty of losing your business. You won't get other people to call GE.
How Ironic.
Heal thyself? I have called these companies and made demands.
Yes I have legitimate criticism of DUers who don't take the fight to the corporations that enable the Republican party and their death and poverty machine.
I REPEAT: SILENTLY BOYCOTTING A GOP contributor won't do it. CALL THEM IN DROVES over this WAR
just like you called ABC over a stupid movie.

12. Are we supposed to report in daily on who we did not do business with? |
|
Or should we post self-righteous post condemning others of not being as devoted as ourselves at ending the GOP's relationship with corporations such as these?
After all, we all know that offending and alienating people is the best way to motivate them, right?

Not ALL of us woke up only after 2000 was stolen, or after 9-11, or after Iraq invasion. But, I do appreciate those who finally did. They should be brought to the light about these matters that preceded their awakening, that's why I keep the reality of IranContra, BCCI, Iraqgate and CIA drugrunning in the mix.
There is so MUCH to know about the fascist agenda and its corrupt links past and current.

19. I do all of this and more and have for years and years. |
|
If most people lived and spent like I do, first, the economy would collapse, but then the air would clear, we would have to manufacture what little we did buy, we could swim in the rivers and oceans without getting sick, Wal-mart would still be a small chain of "mom & pop" shops that only sold American made products, and most of the companies you listed wouldn't even exist.
Alas, most Americans do know and don't care about anything beyond their own short-sighted, immediate gratification, of whatever "need" has been installed in their mostly empty heads by an advertising campaign.
