Bush to propose troop cut?? He's AWESOME! |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-12-07 02:54 PM by abernste
At least that's what I've seen on the front page of at least three newspapers today.
So let me get this straight:
In November 2006, Americans voted overwhelmingly in favor of Democrats largely because they were unhappy with the number of troops in Iraq.
In January 2007, Bush responds by announcing that he would RAISE the number of troops from 130K to 160K, but that the increase would only last six months.
In the Spring of 2007, the Democrats in Congress give him his escalation and announce that they would reserve judgment until September, when that six-month period comes to an end.
In September 2007, Bush (through his mouthpiece general) announces that the six month "Surge" from 130K to 160K is now an 18 month "Surge."
And our lapdog media somehow sees the hypothetical expiration of that already inflated number (almost one year in the future) as a CUT?
What the hell is wrong with this country?

1. buSHIT surged the surge so he |
|
can purge the surge just in time for elections and the corporatemediawhores are giving praise where the term "BULLSHIT!" would be more accurate.

2. And we will still be where we were in 06 |
|
Next summer, IF they bring home 30,000 troops, we will be in the same position we were in before the "surge". So logically that means the surge is working right? :sarcasm:
I am sure that we will be at war with Iran before then, so the 30k that were supposed to come home won't, they will be in Iran.
BTW, why are we still deploying troops. I just had a cousin leave last week to go to Iraq. Why?

4. because we are fighting them over there so |
|
we don't have to fight them over here. Plus we are establishing a democracy based on our choosing the leaders, so much easier than letting the purple fingered people do so.
Welcome to DU,

3. It's an old trick. Nixon used it with daylight savings time. |
|
I don't remember why, but Nixon instituted daylight savings time in the middle of the winter to supposedly conserve energy.
Pat Oliphant had a cartoon showing Nixon with a blanket (marked "daylight savings"). He had cut about 1/3 of the blanket off and was sewing it back on the uncut end. Nixon's logic: "See? I can make the day longer by cutting part of it off one end and sewing back on the other end."
Bush is channeling Nixon.

7. He will never do it. This is just an empty promise. |

He is desperate. And when he changes his mind right before the 2008 election, the Democrats are going to show him whose boss. LOL. I wish the Democrats had the courage to show Bush who is boss, but I am becoming convinced that Bush is not the only liar in D.C. The progressive Democrats in Congress talk a lot. They complain a lot. But they are not putting the political pressure on the Blue Dog Democrats that is needed to push them on Iraq. The Democrats are scared. That is why.
