I think there is a turning point here.
It is going to be determined in public opinion surveys soon. As it should be.

It really comes down to three points stated in the testimony - To try and keep the surge going for another year at least, he doesn't know if it is going to work, and doesn't know if it even makes us safer - that is the thrust of the testimony. But we sure know it is going to cost - a lot.

I actually think Petraeus was pretty honest when you cut thru the crap.

And it will come down to the american ability to see it for what it is. I think we will. I do trust us as a country - we may be slow - but we are not stupid.

If they do now, see thru the facade - any attempt to thwart the will of the country will result in some people losing their jobs in congress next year.

And I think they will do almost anything to keep their jobs.

It is, really, the beauty of our democracy - we absolutely do "run people out on a rail"
when they cross a certain line.

And they are standing right on the line right now.
