If you love John Cornyn
then you won't want to help this guy out. He is putting up a GOOD race to throw that rat bastard out.
Got this email today and if you are looking for a worthy state candidate to help--he is a good bet to hedge.

Dear friend,
Help Rick reach his 3rd quarter fundraising goal - contribute to his campaign today!

Our campaign is on the move. Last week, we received the endorsement of the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters, representing more than 14,000 professional fire fighters across Texas. Then a new poll showed us leading our primary opponent by a factor of 2 to 1.

We need your help to keep this momentum going. Today we're launching our end of quarter fundraising drive, and I need you to provide the "Finishing Kick." Please make a contribution to our campaign today!

September 30 marks the Federal Elections Commission deadline. This will be our first fundraising report since I entered the race in July. Whether we like it or not, people will gauge the strength of our campaign based on how much money we can raise. Our opponents, the media, and the pundits will judge our campaign based on our fundraising numbers, and I need you to be the difference.

Unlike John Cornyn, I won't be reaching into the deep pockets of the corporate special interests at the expense of the citizens of Texas.

Help me make a statement. Tell the media, the pundits, and our opponents that a campaign powered by the people is going to change the game in Texas. Help us reach our goal of $25,000 by the September 30th deadline!

This is what's at stake.

John Cornyn thinks he's representing real Texans by rubberstamping the failed strategies in Iraq. John Cornyn thinks he's representing real Texans by voting against health care for children. John Cornyn thinks he's representing real Texans by voting against common sense legislation that would allow our troops to spend as much time at home with their families as they spend deployed.

We deserve better. November 2008 will be our chance to hold the junior Senator from Texas accountable. We have the people. We have the message. We need to make sure we have the financial resources to compete.

Give us the "Finishing Kick" we need to meet our fundraising goals. Please rush a contribution of $1000, $100, $10, or whatever you can afford to our campaign for change.

http://actblue.com/page/netrootsfornoriega

We are just 18 days from the September 30th deadline. Your continued support is critical to our campaign, and I can't thank you enough for all you do.

Sincerely,

Rick Noriega

13. As a former Texas resident, I have a speical interest in what happens there
And speaking of my state, at least one of our Senators is a Democrat. I would certainly like for Texas to be albe to say the same in January 2009, but that is not likely to happen if the mistakes of the past are repeated.

22. And if we keep running DINOS
we get what we have in Washington. I'm tired of Republican/Republican-lite.
By the way...please don't disparage David Van Os.
He is one of the finest men I have ever had the pleasure to meet.
Texas doesn't deserve him. Yet.

21. They are the WORST so-called "representatives"
All they represent are corporations. Hutchinson is a big defense department cocksucker. Cronyn is so enthralled to the energy companies he cannot support clean air. I wonder what that ass-hat breathes?

Senate hopeful takes heat over donations
By JOHN MORITZ
Star-Telegram Staff Writer

RICK NORIEGA AUSTIN -- A Democratic state lawmaker who touts his military service in Afghanistan as a qualification in his campaign for a U.S. Senate seat next year has accepted nearly $10,000 from the Houston businessman who donated millions for the so-called Swift Boat ads that helped torpedo John Kerry's presidential campaign in 2004, reports filed with the state ethics commission show.

The donations from home builder Bob Perry to state Rep. Rick Noriega date to the Houston Democrat's first campaign for a House seat in 1998. But four contributions totaling $7,000 have been made since January 2006, well after Perry's role in the Swift Boat campaign became widely known.

"I think that Texas Democratic primary voters are going to find instructive that Rick Noriega is taking money from the same man who financed the ads that played a big part in defeating the 2004 Democratic nominee for president," said Kim Devlin, spokeswoman for San Antonio lawyer Mikal Watts, Noriega's chief rival for the senatorial nomination.

15. You left out this part
Spokesman James Aldrete made no apologies for the Perry donations and noted that seven of the nine House Democrats from Houston have accepted money from the financier, who is among the most generous contributors to Republican causes around the country.

"The fact is, Bob Perry has given to just about every Houston area representative in the Legislature," Aldrete said. "And he's given Rick a lot less than he's given to most of the others. When you look at Bob Perry's No. 1 issue, tort reform, Rick voted against him. He's not influenced by Bob Perry's money."

Records show that Houston-area Democratic state Reps. Sylvester Turner, Ana Hernandez and Harold Dutton have received substantially more money from Perry than has Noriega.

16. So if Perry is giving the money for a reason other that to influence Noriega in the Legislature,
could it be he funding him hoping that he win the Senate nomination and serve as a weak candidate against Cornyn?

20. I don't know
Peronally, I wouldn't take Perry's money either. But then, Perry isn't the only swiftboater to donate to Dem candidates. T. Boone Pickens does it as well. In fact, old Boone once donated to John Kerry: http://www.newsmeat.com/billionaire_political_donations/T_Boone_Pickens.php

If I had to guess, it's probably about the donor "appearing" to be not partisan.

19. Mikal Watts
The campaign slogan for Mikal Watts should be "Quid Pro Quo. It's not just for Republicans anymore."

Texans have one chance at getting rid of Cornyn. And his name is Rick Noriega.
