"Christian Defense Coalition" to lay thousands of red-stained gloves, AGAINST leaving Iraq
Contact: Christian Defense Coalition, 202-547-1735, 540-538-4741 cell
WASHINGTON, Sept. 13 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christian Defense Coalition warns Congress that a premature withdrawal of American troops in Iraq would lead to the persecution, torture and genocide of religious minorities in that country.

The group will share their concerns at a news conference and demonstration on the lower western terrace of the United States Capitol building.

The news conference will be on Thursday, September 13th, at 11:00 A.M. (On the lower western terrace by the water fountain.)

The coalition will also have a public display of red stained gloves, laid out on the lower Capitol terrace, symbolizing the blood of thousands of religious minorities that will be on our hands if we do not protect religious liberty in Iraq.

The Christian Defense Coalition recently led a prayer delegation to Baghdad and met with Prime Minister al-Maliki with a special emphasis on religious liberty.

While in Baghdad, the delegation met with Iraqi Christians leaders and were told by them if the Americans would withdraw early, it would lead to the extermination of Christians and Christianity in Iraq.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, "Majority Leader Reid, Speaker Pelosi and the members of Congress must be reminded that a premature withdrawal of American troops in Iraq would lead to the persecution and slaughter of those who practice non-Islamic religious traditions. This would be especially true for hundreds of thousands of Iraqi Christians.

We cannot allow 2,000 years of Christianity to be brutally removed from Iraq along with other faith traditions. Congress must lay out a clear plan and agenda detailing how they will protect religious freedom in Iraq and ensure all religious minorities do not face ethnic cleansing and genocide. We do not want their blood on our hands."

Your ilk should've thought of that before teaching all that imaginary sky-people crapola over the centuries.

3. So,
We keep killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqis (of whatever religion) to hypothetically protect the Christian Iraqis? That makes sense.

11. They don't give a damn about Iraqi Christians
They're just grasping at straws to defend our continued presence over there.

Blood and Iraq? That just reinforces the fact that this occupation is a meatgrinder, imho.

16. IIRC, Tariq Aziz, Saddam's Foreign Minister, was a Christian
That should offer some anecdotal evidence that the CDC's co-religionists were doing quite well before our invasion, and in the case of Mr. Aziz, aiding and abetting (and benefitting from) the evils of the Hussein regime.

12. We cannot allow....
2,000 years of Christianity to be "brutally removed" from Iraq....."

Even though it was "brutally instituted" there 2000 years ago and pretty much everywhere's else? So how many American soldiers should die protecting the practitioners of your religion??? Got any numbers????

Sheesh...

14. Another example of why I proudly consider myself as non-religious
I chose that path on my own too after being raised in a very religious and loving home. I'll not be going to heaven or hell but I might hang around as a spirit a few years so as to scare the HELL out of the children on halloween night ;-)

19. This makes me even prouder of my minister.
She and 5 others went and spoke with our representative yesterday about getting out of Iraq. Not that it will do much good, but they tried.
I knew I had found the right church when I met my minister at a peace rally.

22. Oh no! Persecution, torture and genocide in Iraq!
And if the U.S. leaves, we presumably won't be participating in such things anymore.

You know, when Jesus said "Love your enemies," I think he probably meant don't kill them, Mr. Mahoney.

What is it anyway with these folks? There's just black and white. Either we're there with a full military presence blasting hell out of everything that moves and then blasting hell out of what's left to watch the rubble bounce, or we "abandon" the field. Has it occurred to anyone with the repressive right that this job has passed from the military and is now more properly in the hands of people who create rather than destroy?
