So, live NUKES were mistakenly flown around the US last week? Say it isn't so, i'm getting paranoid |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-13-07 12:22 PM by Danieljay
These people know their effing jobs, surely someone would have known, no?
Ya know, with everyone resigning, a military aircraft stand down (is it today?), Portland Oregon experiencing a simulated radiological WMD attack (TOPOFF) on October 16th (involving all local and state emergency management, the national guard, NORTHCOM) the same week NORTHCOM is conducting a martial law exercise, I'm getting an uneasy Chertoff 'gut feeling' .
Now, I'm not a conspiracy buff, but something stinks. I was telling my wife yesterday that I'm just bothered by an uneasy feeling something bad is going to happen. She reminded me to 'not go there'. Is anyone else thinking/feeling the same thing?

1. I don't think they were "live", meaning armed to detonate, but my understanding |

5. They were not primed or armed. |

If there was an accident, any damage would have been minimal and easily contained.
Plus, there was no accident. Only someone reported something to the media, who in turn told the story and doubtlessly embellished it. The media is known for doing that...
Plus, not knowing 'the whole picture', allows us to imagine clever little stories to put disparate pieces together. Stories that may or may not reflect reality, and as humans we can do things that have no rhyme nor reason to them as well.
The fact some people want to think Bush and Cheney are in cahoots with Putin was another little bombshell that threw me for a loop when reading it yesterday. Some conspiracy theories are entertaining, but that one was waaaay too much to be believed, even under the most drunken conditions.
This response is more a general response, or at least anybody who wants to read my goofy little perspectives in life.

13. I think Barksdale has B-52's-- |

Edited on Thu Sep-13-07 12:35 PM by wienerdoggie
Thought they had a bomber wing there.
edit--if true, then folks at Barksdale would routinely handle the missiles, though I don't think they were supposed to get the warheads!

11. I hadn't heard any theories about Bush/Cheney and Putin-- |
|
would not have put them in cahoots by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, it almost seems like our relations with Russia are deteriorating. That's a tinfoil creation for sure.

This is exactly like every other time a terrorist attack has been predicted based on some kind of nonsense and fails to materialize.

I have the exact same feeling. I told my husband that something, I don't know what, but something is going to happen. Something sinks to high heaven, and I don't like it. Not only were Nukes, live or not, flown around last week, 6 left, and only 5 showed up in LA. HMMM. Scare anyone else???:hide: :nuke:

6. "Something bad" is already happening.. |
|
But I'm with you on the feeling that Something worse is coming. BushCo isn't giving up or giving in at all. It's all about saving Bush's precious legacy now, and they'll do anything to achieve that goal.

and yes, you have every reason to be paranoid. This is the Bush cabal, after all. Let's just say, if Bush told me the sky was blue, I would go out and check. Twice. Maybe even three times. And then I would consider that there was a possibility I was still being lied to. :(

8. How do you define "live"? |

they weren't set to detonate, thus they could survive almost any damage, including an airplane crash.

12. That really isn't the point |
|
Whether they were "live" or not, or whether there would have been damage or not doesn't matter (to me at least) The problem is that the nukes were not supposed to come to barksdale and they did. So either more than 2 people fucked up royally, or something is amis. You decide for yourself, I know I will

20. To my knowledge there are no missing nukes! |
|
Early reports of this story said 5 weapons, later stories were corrected to 6.
As to the question 'were they live?' They were mounted on their launch hardpoints and all arming keys etc. would have been removed for flight, so 'yes,' in a sense they were live. The crew would still need to do alot to deploy them from within the aircraft, including getting attack orders via secure communication from command..
Should a nuke say, fall off the aircraft or the aircraft crash, the conventional explosives used to trigger the device might go off from impact of fire, but the nuclear weapon would not detonate. It takes multiple triggers going off within a millionth of a second to cause the nuclear reaction. The reason we DO NOT fly nuclear weapons on combat aircraft is exactly because there had been incidents in the 1960's where weapons did 'fall off' or the aircraft crashed, causing the conventional side of the weapon to partially detonate. On occassion, this dispersed the nuclear materials around the crash site.
