Uh Oh: FAUX News Affiliate Now Says North Korea is Arming SYRIA With Nukes >>
Does anyone find it odd that FOX News is basically a Bush administration tool to whip up support for the Bush/PNAC middle east "restructuring" (war) plan? (shameless rhetorical question)

Curveball II?

U.S. intelligence officials have developed evidence showing that North Korea is helping Syria to develop a nuclear program for weapons purposes, FOX News has learned in recent interviews with sources who have knowledge of the situation.

Syrians emphatically denied the claim on Thursday.

The details of the claims are vague, but one source told FOX News in late August that the North Koreans had sold the Syrians a nuclear facility, most likely related to uranium enrichment. Enriched uranium is necessary both for nuclear power and nuclear weapons uses. The United States accuses Syria of assisting terrorist groups including Hezbollah.

A source said the case has been assigned the internal code name, "Orchard," and the evidence was developed through Israeli channels, possibly with the assistance of U.S. aerial photography.

Other sources, however, questioned Syria's ability to afford such a pricey venture. Those sources said that in recent discussions with U.S. intelligence officials, the officials had spoken of North Korea having sent nuclear scientists, engineers, and other personnel with relevant expertise to Damascus.

1. Scotland arming Norway with Haggis
Lets keep chatting about faux as the joke it is. Sadly a powerful joke but their trash, if exposed, should be swept away.

After all, war sells papers...as well as other media time.

Look at the example of Hearst and the Spanish-American War. There probably would never have been a war if it had not been for Hearst and his papers.

"You furnish the pictures, I'll furnish the war." Hearst

While the truth about what happened the U.S.S. Maine is still unknown (theories range from completely accidental internal explosions to Spanish torpedo fire to a mine set by agents of the "yellow press"), one can be relatively sure that this war may very well have not happened without the encouragement of the propaganda put out by newspapers all over America. To make this point more blatant, imagine what would have happened if the "yellow kids" (Hearst and Pulitzer) had strongly disapproved of the war, for whatever reason. Spanish brutality would be toned down, seen as a non-issue, and the destruction of the Maine would have been promoted as an accident. Basically, due to the public opinion that they had such thorough control over, propaganda was the decisive factor in starting this war. So, overall, this becomes one of the most significant and representative events in the history of modern propaganda.

8. I hope they're right.
It seems acquiring a nuke is the only way the US will pony up and negotiate instead of pounding war drums.

Case in point: North Korea & Pakistan

11. I've thought that for a long time...
Equalling the playing field in Israel/Palestine would give real incentive for TRUE peace talks.

13. That, too, maybe, but I was thinking the truth you're touching on is that >
these guys simply find sitting down and negotiating like evolved adults to be so distasteful that as a matter of principal they'll do just about any irrational thing possible to avoid it.

15. Of all the hysterically stupid claims they've made
this one takes the prize.

As I recall, the nuke test in NK was not successful, nor were their long range rocket tests.

Part of the reason they've taken Richardson's team up on the offer to cancel the program in exchange for economic aid is their program was largely a flop.
