Why declare permanent military stay in Iraq now? Why today? |
|
Why do I feel like we're being set up? Set up the day before a highly-publicized military stand down order. Set up as in "Terrorists Hit (name blue state city here), Cite Permanent Military Presence in Iraq as Justification."
Just two days ago he was talking about some troops being able to come home. I always thought the Liar-in-Chief was merely stalling to take as much of the treasury as he could with one hand while crossing his fingers with the other but this just feels like a great big setup.

10. Y'know, that makes sense. And it's EXACTLY the type of thing they always do. |

Wordgames, smoke and mirrors. All spin, all the time.
Thanks- my concerns about tomorrow's full air-defense standdown are now a separate issue again!

3. Couple this with a major Iraqi figure being assassinated ... |
|
Reminds me of what happened to Massoud of the Northern Alliance right before 9/11. I felt uneasy before and this announcement today only makes me feel moreso.

4. It's really very simple |
|
A permanent base is needed because you can basically "hide" soldiers there. Classic Bush-bait-and-switch. For instance, a person stationed in Ft. Hood is not considered deployed to Ft. Hood. They are FROM Ft. Hood. And in the same vein, a soldier stationed in Baghdad is no longer considered a deployed soldier, they are FROM Baghdad. Make sense?

8. Rethugs are so clever. The "Enduring Bases" are named with |
|
Arabic names, so they are Iraqi bases. The only catch is that US Troops are stationed there.

Consequently, lots of cover for those supporting the Cheney administrations push to empire.
In the end, Iraq will provide permanent bases in SW Asia in order to advance U$ $trategic intere$t$ during the $econd Cold War.

11. There's been some recent legislation re: permanent bases. |
|
I've no idea what the status of it is though.
