Talk about a way to undercut Petreaus credibility and set back any gains Bush has made recently. Any official or unofficial word on this?

2. Unofficial
Big Eddie said something about Fallon being asked to come before some committee on Air America this afternoon. Wish I could remember who but I've been traveling all day and my mind is fried.

4. Jim Webb;
Possible mutiny among the top brass? Thank god we have Webb instead of that racist bigot Allen.

6. I heard Jim Webb asked the chairman of the committee to
request Fallon to testify. I don't remember if it was Armed Services of Foreign Relations. I think it was Armed Services though. My guess is that Fallon will testify. Kennedy is the Chairman and neither he or Webb will be sidetracked if that's what they want! I also don't see Admiral Fallon saying "Yes Sir" if Shrub said I don't want you to!

7. Small correction
I agree that it will probably be in front of the Armed Services, but the chairman is Levin. I hope it will happen, and SOON.

8. Thank goodness for Jim Webb
He's requesting that Sen. Levin call Fallon to testify. This is what he said this afternoon:

WEBB: here's something of a kabuki going on right now. You know, the Petraeus report was brought in. On the one hand they're calling it independent; on the other, General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker, from my understanding, gave a one-hour exclusive interview to Fox News after their first day of testimony.
So it was a very narrow and focused two days of hearings. We need to hear from people like Admiral Fallon and others to get a sense of how the region is in play. He was, by many accounts, questioning keeping these troop levels this high.

So I'm going to be recommending to Senator Levin that we get Admiral Fallon in and get his views on the region.

These comments and others can be found at http://thinkprogress.org/2007/09/12/webb-fallon/:nuke:

9. Biden and Webb have very personal stakes in this fraud of a war.
There are a few other Congress people that do also, but these two are actively trying to bring it to a close.

Thank goodness for Webb, and Biden too.
