This is an email I just received.
It brought tears to my eyes.

This is touching. Let's not forget!

Here is a commercial Budweiser produced after 9/11. They aired it only
once so as not to benefit financially from it -- they just wanted to
acknowledge the tragic event. This is so consistent with a company who
always does things with a ton of class!!

With the anniversary of this horrific event fast approaching, it's a
good time to keep this circulating. We will NEVER forget.

3. Class all the way, and brought tears to my eyes. They also had a commercial for, I think,

the 1980 Olympics that was wonderful. Two farmers in a field, taking a break and leaning on a fence, then in the distance a police car approaches down the rural road, followed by the Olympic torch-bearing runner.

As the runner passes, the farmers applaud and then turn and head back to their work.

One of the best commercials ever, and one of the most touching.

Edit: I think it actually may have been for the 1976 Olympics. I can't find it on youtube, so if anyone has a link to a video I'd be forever grateful.

11. I think it was for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
But either way, I remember that commercial too.

Always thought it was a good one.

The one linked in the OP put a big lump in my throat.

slow here in Canada. He is in the commercial production side of things.

15. I always like their salutes to the working man commercials
you know, the ones about the obscure jobs that people do that no one ever thinks about.

4. Am I evil?
"Aired it only once"? Um, yeah, except for this eternal e-mail going around.

I find the personification of their horses odd. I liked them better when all they did was pull the wagon, not play football or bow to Manhattan.

6. I didn't get that impression
Horses like those are trained to perform. In this case their masters made them perform in a dignified context. That said, I don't know if Budweiser's intentions were pure -- my uncle is a pilot for them and he's as Reight wing as they get.

7. The aim of that commercial was not to please YOU. It was to make a statement, and
I believe that statement was made beautifully. And I SERIOUSLY doubt that they aired it only once with the intention that it would end up as an "eternal e-mail going around."

You may not believe it, but people, and even (yes, the HORROR) CORPORATIONS are capable of making gestures with NO hidden meanings or agendas.

Sorry that the horses offended you by doing something except pulling the wagon.

16. Please. I expect better from you RS.
It was designed to please Fierce, and millions like him. Publicly traded companies of that size do not spend money to make "statements" that will do nothing for their bottom line. Still, it was a touching ad.

I know they're doing dismally in Chicago compared to Miller, not sure about NYC. They look similar on TV to many viewers anyway.

Whether they're just pullin the wagon or playing animated football. Bud's got a great advertising department and I think they did a great job with this tribute.

take it. They keep them at a lot of their breweries. Their hooves are like 8" across. They're huge, they're graceful and they're treated like royalty. Very beautiful animals.

Oh and here is another of my favorite Clydesdale commercials. These people are brilliant.

27. It is still one of the hardest things to overcome hating the * machine for...
...that they shat all over the tremendous upswelling of positive feeling and energy generated in the wake of this tragedy. The lost possibilities of what we COULD have accomplished, domestically and worldwide, with those strong feelings, haunt me to this day.

Instead, what did they choose to accomplish?

"Go shopping."

"Attack Iraq."

"Ram through civil-liberties trashing legislation."

"Make honest discussion and dissent 'unpatriotic.'"

"You're with us or against us."

Sometimes the rage overwhelms me to the point where I honestly believe I could cheerfully slap these peoples' heads against a brick wall hard enough to make a substantial dent.

In the wall.

sadly,
Bright
