2. they got rid of it because it wasn't really helpful
many of the cartoonists complained that it didn't help them gauge how many people saw their toons and asked for a "hit counter" instead

the hit counter is in each cartoonists account screen and it's not accessible for general viewing

I find this more helpful to me, as it gives me a running total for the month, plus "hits" on each toon

and I figured out where my one email fan is seeing my toons - I've only refered to him as a cellar dweller here on the DU - no where else. So he's looking at the toons here, then going over to the comics sherpa site to send his comments - he refered to himself as a celler dweller in a couple of recent viewer-comment emails.

although the emails are tiresome and just parrots the RW rhetoric around the kool-aid dispenser - everytime he sends me one it means at least one "hit" and that boosts my numbers. He's actually helping not hurting my viewership ratings.

4. OMFG!
When "Living in Mom's Basement" learns he's actually boosting your numbers, he's going to have a stroke.

Kudos and thanks for the toons!

10. the joys of heating with wood is many
for the lumberjack in me the cutting is great as is the splitting and stacking. Nothing compares to the building of the first fire of the season though and the first rays of heat that caresses the soul, you know the ones that puts the big smile on your face in knowing you're doing something right, all of it.
We heat our home with wood pellets now but in our shop we use wood, good ole oak and hickory.

12. Saves us a bundle for winter heating
we were looking at pellet stoves for the future, but the hopper and fan needs to run on electricity - and if the power goes out - can you still use it without power? hand feed pellets?

ennywho - with tomorrow's load we'll have close to 10 cords. Our wood guy brings 2 cords at a time, but when we're done stacking it looks closer to around 2 1/2 cords. we'll also get a couple of small truck loads from the 84 yr old guy down the road, his stuff isn't as good, burns fast but it's good for kindling to get things roaring.

and if we have any left over in the spring, we'll be that much ahead for next winter
