The Army of One..and another and another
Homecoming flags don't always wave.. no cheering crowds

Someone is there to "tuck you in"

Nice straight lines..just like marching..

Shine a spotlight,
on a president who only played
a soldier in the movies

You come home in the dead of night, shrouded in darkness & secrecy, masked as reverence

Shhhh..Sleep peacefully, among friends..
parting soon for the final journey..
Your family waits for you.

3. As the father of an active duty soldier I am disturbed

by the pictures but more so by your captions.

I support your desire to express your opinion and have seen many fellow Americans put their lives on the line with the purpose to protect that freedom of expression.

Presumably the opinion you are expressing is that the current war in Iraq is bad policy and wasteful of human life. I agree. However, my gut response to your captions of the images above leaves me a bit unnerved as to whether the ends are justified by the means used to communicate them.

4. I am sorry the pictures and the captions disturb you.

Is it better to allow our government to keep us oblivious to the loss; the pain and suffering? The poster's captions are her expression of anger and as I see it - the tragedy involved that AMERICANS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SEE.

The war might have ended a long time ago if people were allowed to be disturbed.

And just so you know, I am the wife of a soldier - retired a week ago. Served 22 years and I'm proud of him.

6. I agee with you completely on the hiding of the true costs of the war

I have no truck with showing images of young men and woman coming home in flag draped coffins. That is a real consequence of this war and all too many Americans are seemingly oblivious to that fact. So simply post the pictures and express regrets and in my mind no harm no foul. But the captions written were a bit too much for me.

Just so you know, my son went off on his third tour, 1 in Afg. and two in Iraq. He is trying to accomplish something he can't there. That is rectifying his survival with the loss of his buddies. I have not heard from him in over 90 days. I fear I may only hear about him and not from him in he end.

Congratulations on your husband's retirement. I am sure you look forward to a lifetime of new experiences.

9. I'll keep you and your son in my thoughts.
I understand, under the circumstances, how those captions may have been too much. I hope your son returns safely and will not have to return there.

5. As a combat vet I think the post is great.
Every life lost due to our invasion of Iraq was a wasted life. You said you agree with that.

We should never forget that these were wasted lives and it was NOT a mistake!

It was an INTENTIONAL war for profits, launched by traitors, who must be held accountable.

Nope, doesn't make ya' feel good. IT SHOULDN'T.

7. You are right about this war. But with a kid there, I feel uneasy
about the captions to those images. They were too cavalier, at least in my reading of them. Maybe that was the intent, to express the cavalier attitude with which these young Americans were sent. However, in my current state, that is not how I react to them on the face of things.
