Cheney: "The war on terror does not have to be endless"

http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2007/09/cheney_us_getting_things_right.html#more

<snip>

“The terrorists have been at war with the United States for a long time,’’ the vice president said. “And after 9/11, this nation made a decision: We’re at war with them…

“The war on terror does not have to be endless,’’ Cheney said. “But to prevail in the long run, we must remove the conditions that inspire such blind, prideful hatred that drove 19 men to get onto airplanes and come to kill us.

“Tyranny in Afghanistan was worth deposing,’’ he said. “Democracy in Afghanistan is worth defending. And the same is true in Iraq…

“The al Qaeda network that struck America is one of the elements now interested in destroying Iraq’s democracy – and Osama bin Laden and his lieutenants regard it as a critical front in their war against us,’’ he said. “Their goal is to make us run.

“The terrorists are betting that Americans will grow tired, distracted and weak,’’ he said. “That’s a bet the terrorists are going to lose.’’

2. Um - "terror", "terrorism" is an idea. We can't defeat it.
Of course Dick knows that, but his base is too stupid to understand it. Doh.

10. The war on the emotional reaction that war provokes.
We terrorize you with hordes of soldiers, tanks, and bombers. You terrorize us with guerrilla attacks. We terrorize you with more soldiers, tanks, and bombers. Lots of people die. Everyone else is scared. Bush and his friends make money. Am I missing anything?

5. Americans will grow tired, distracted and weak
So basically the Terrorist strategy is the same strategy that the Americans had against USSR? Just wait til they blow their military and money on a completely pointless military campaign.

I feel my terror will end as soon as Cheney is out of power.

7. "Democracy is also worth defending here in the U.S.A. Dickweed!"
... but oh, you sycophants always give us the excuse that "We don't live in a Democracy! We live in a Republic!" Well, if a Republic is so much better than a Democracy a$$hats, then why don't you rant about spreading "being a Republic" to all of those other nations!

Lies, lies, LIES!!!

When will they stop!

9. There Is NO SUCH THING As A War on Terror
Just like there's no such thing as a war on drugs.

Maybe it's semantics, and maybe it was INTENDED to be semantics, but constitutionally speaking, our country is not able to wage war on a nebulous, undefined group of individuals, much less on their chosen means of reaking havoc in our world.

No matter how gullible the American people may be, I only wish that half of them understood that the term "war" used in the context of our national security is not one to be transposed into the marketing strategy of the GOP.
