Actual text of memo sent to EPA employees. . . .
MEMORANDUM
SUBJECT: Constitution Day, September 17, 2007
FROM: Luis A. Luna, Assistant Administrator
Office of Administration and Resources Management
TO: All EPA Employees
It was on September 17, 1787, that the Delegates to the Constitutional Convention met at the State House in Philadelphia to sign the Constitution of the United States of America. Each September 17, we celebrate “Constitution Day and Citizenship Day” to commemorate this historic event and to recognize and honor the privileges and responsibilities of U.S. citizenship.
It is fitting on this day to also recognize those who devote themselves to serve our nation. Men and women, civilian and military, give their time -- and even their lives -- to protect the freedom that our Constitution represents. Their sacrifice ensures we may all enjoy the protections afforded by this remarkable 220-year-old document.
I encourage all EPA employees to take a moment to renew their understanding of, and appreciation for, the Constitution we have sworn to support and defend. To view a copy of our Constitution, visit the following website:
