“I'm in agreement with just about everything the president said”

http://www.chieftain.com/metro/1189755656/1

<snip>

An informal, random poll by The Pueblo Chieftain showed that those who didn't watch the president's speech outnumbered those who did by a margin of more than 6 to 1.

Of the 30 people who were asked, only four said they had seen the speech. Three of those four were in agreement with Bush that American troops should remain in Iraq as long as needed to stabilize the region.

“I was a little more impressed by (Bush) than I thought I would be,” said Betty Jones of Pueblo West. “He gave us a little encouragement that it's coming along better than most of the bad reports we're getting.”

Jones said her support of the American occupation isn't unconditional.

“I think it's going to depend on what happens in the near future,” she said.

Eugene Trujillo of Pueblo also agreed with Bush.

“I'm in agreement with just about everything the president said,” Trujillo said. “I'd like to see it through. We get negative reporting on the national news on just about any subject, including this war. You never get the real skinny, but I feel like (Bush) gave it to us tonight.”

Arnold Jestadt of Pueblo West supports troops staying in Iraq for global reasons. “I'm in agreement with the president,” Jestadt said. “I don't think we should pull out. It will look to the world like we're scared.”

The frickin TITLE of the piece is "Few who watched president's speech tend to agree". So of that only 1 out of 6 that even watched it, "few" of those agreed... but they then go on to quote two people who DO agree, and then call the last interviewee the LONE DISSENTING VOICE.

:wtf:

12. I can now name 3 people who should stop drinking the kool-ade and learn to think
for themselves. "You never get the real skinny, but I feel like (Bush) gave it to us tonight.” Why would anybody believe that based on Bush's history?

17. Those people are idiots!
Doesn't it look 'more scared' to attack someone you think might attack you rather than who actually has attacked you? Yes, we should spend all future generations money just so the world doesn't think we 'look scared.' I love how the other two people say they believe Bush over all the bad reports. Damn people, grow a freaking brain!

18. what this "informal poll" really shows is the bubble-boy effect
* relatively few of those polled gave enough of a damn to observe the resident's speech, and I hypothesize it's because most of the population has figured out that almost everything he says falls into the categories of fear-mongering or saber-rattling or bumbling or all of the above.

* of those few who are dull or brave enough to give his speech a shot, half or more are already firmly on his side and regard existing press coverage of the Iraqupation as negatively biased.
