Rudy Ghouliani Slams Move On. Org And Hilliary
The New York Times came under attack Thursday by Rudolph W. Giuliani and a group of conservative Republicans for what they said was favoritism in the rate charged to MoveOn.org, a liberal group that opposes the war, for an advertisement attacking Gen. David H. Petraeus, the American commander in Iraq.

1. He's all t-shirt and bumper sticker slogans like every other Republican.
Not to mention hot air, smoke and mirrors and the ever popular shell game.

4. With Thompson heavily giving Rudy a heavy thump by entering the race
Gooliani will say anything to attract attention. Why does this mayor think he is even sigificant when new York firefighter surely do not support this flake.

7. Jonathan Alter is on MSNBC today basically warning us that this is
the way Rudy operates--he rips off scabs and jumps on controversies for political advantage. Alter also defended Hillary, that she DIDN'T call Petraeus a liar and she had nothing to do with MoveOn. Kudos to Alter, he's one of my consistent faves among journalists.

9. Jonathan Alter of Newsweek on MSNBC today was very good on this subject
He laid out Ghouliani's long history of extreme political tactics like this, where he tries to inflame polarization.

He gave the infamous examples of when NYC police killed a boy, and Rudy decided to attack the dead boy saying he "was no altar boy" as a response to criticism. Also gave the example of how Rudy yanked the funding of an art museum because he didn't like the art.

I personally remember when Rudy was running for mayor of NYC he REALLY stirred up some racial hate against the sitting black mayor at a cops rally. There were actually signs about the incumbent mayor calling him a "washroom attendant".

Rudy Guiliani is fascist, racist scum.

Anyway, Jonathan Alter said Hillary had no need to get sucked into Rudy's games by responding to these tactics. He made the analogy that repubs didn't have to answer for the antics of Ann Coulter.

He said the larger point that everyone should be aware of is what kind of candidate Giuliani is. He is extreme in every measure, will definitely polarize and that should make everyone question whether he has the temperament to be President.

He made lots of good points on this.

10. Here's the inside dope on the MoveOn ad buy
Edited on Fri Sep-14-07 12:26 PM by rocknation
Thanks to NY Post rival NY Daily News:

...Any advocacy group seeking to place a single, full-page, black-and-white ad in The Times...over a seven-day period (the paper picks the day) pays what MoveOn.org did, $64,575...The Times charges a higher rate, $181,692...for ads guaranteed to run on a specific day...

All of which were details-schmetails to Team Giuliani, which leaped at the chance to hit three of the right's top liberal demons...

Imagine what President Giuliani would do with information about a Middle Eastern country having weapons of mass destruction...

11. Seems to me Rudy forgot the other
3 reports that came before the General's. I cannot speak for HRC but I would say....Mayor Giuliani has blinders on because there were three reports that were given to the Senate and the House for us to examine. All three non partisan reports basically all said the same about the non progress in Iraq and violence was still high. Thus, when I heard the General give his statement about what was going on in Iraq I was amazed there was such a distance between his report and the three others. So, I had to decide on what I would base my statement and questions on. From what the General answered I therefore had to tell him "The reports that you provide to us really require the willing suspension of disbelief,"
