You guessed it, he's a rethug. We were at a family function last week and and him knowing my political leanings gave me Michael Moore Hates America, after making me promise to actually watch it and saying I can do what I want with it after that.
Needless to say I watched it and yes it's nothing but reich-wing crap packaged in a retail dvd, so what I was thinking of doing is sending it back to him, that is after it went through my cd shredder.

1. My sister would send those Veggie Tales tapes to my kid.
The first one wasn't so bad about Stuff Mart and Madame Blueberry but that one about Easter and her old husband was just too much as where all the other dopey ones...some French Peas and the Battle of Jerico. Then she send us old used Lion, With, Wardrobe series junk.

2. Is it true Michael Moore holds shares in Halliburton?
I read that last week, and I want to know if it's true. If it is, he's a hypocrite and I want to burn my copy of 'Fahrenheit 9/11'.

13. Kevin Leffler. He made a documentary called 'Shooting Michael Moore', which I have never seen myself
But I read he grew up with Moore and he said Moore holds shares in Haliburton.

But I don't like you treat me so suspicious like I'm some kind of troll. That's vert paranoid of you.

12. Michael Morre doesn't own stock in Halliburton, but his foundation did in 1999.
This piece of 'information' came directly from Peter Schweizer's new book, "Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy."

So why ask the question here and keep bringing it up unless you are trying to lay a bad rap on Michael Moore?

This is an OLD story and frankly, it surprises me that any Michael Moore fan has not heard the truth yet. A couple DUers posted names and enough info right here in this thread for you to do a simple search and find the answer you want.

18. NO. It's a lie...as usual. All repukes lie about everything. If their mouth is open, THEY'RE LYING!
The plain simple facts are these:

1. That part of the tax return Schweizer refers to is for Moore’s private foundation. It is not a part of Michael Moore’s personal 1040 tax return.

2. That foundation is a separate entity from Michael Moore. It’s a tax exempt charity governed by the IRS Code, hence all tax filings are a matter of public record.

3. Any stock bought with funds in that foundation’s name are registered in that foundation’s name - not in Moore’s name. When that stock is sold, any profit or loss belongs solely to that foundation which means any profit must eventually be distributed for charitable causes to benefit worthy people or organizations as defined by the IRS Code. If that foundation is ever dissolved, all assets must be distributed to charity. What this means is that Moore as President may control the activities of the charity, but he does not “own” it. (A charity owns itself.)<snip>

20. It was one Kevin Leffler who said this, who backed Kerry in 2004, not a Republican.
And what difference does it make if the money doesn't go to Moore the person, but Moore's foundation? And what difference does it make if that money is used for charitable activities? It's still dirty money, earned from Cheney's former evil company which is stealing the Iraqi oil!

34. If he had something like a Vanguard mutual fund, Halliburton could
have been one of the stocks. Vanguard is continually looking for stocks that will return good value. The individual member doesn't pick the stocks in the portfolio. It may not have been part of the fund when he signed onto whatever fund he bought into.

When I looked over my TSP C fund I found a lot of companies I would have not wanted to invest in.

That's how he's able to get into stockholder meetings and challenge the company honchos.

Smart idea, good for him.

Strange that conservatives dislike Moore. Since so many wingers are really middle to lower class people, Moore actually goes to bat for them to protect their jobs and health care.

I feel sorry for right wingers. The GOP screws them over daily, yet they still hang on.
