Bush Troop Announcement = Fake Withdrawal
The President Is Deceiving The American People Into Believing The War Is Winding Down

WASHINGTON - September 14 - Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) issued the following statement in anticipation of President Bush’s call for a troop withdrawal:

“Instead of a surge, now we have a stall. The President’s announcement is nothing but a fake withdrawal,” Kucinich said.

“The President wants to keep the troops in Iraq through the end of his term, with no end to this war in sight. This ‘withdrawal’ announcement is just another attempt to deceive the American people.

“President Bush is giving people a sense that the war is winding down when no such thing is happening. The President’s withdrawal plan of 30,000 troops by mid-2008, only takes us to the same level of troops that we were at a year ago—before the January surge. That’s not a withdrawal, it’s a stall.

“At a time when the American people are demanding a new direction in Iraq, Congress must take a stand and act responsibly to end this war. The President’s war strategy is a complete failure and a majority of Americans recognize this.

“The Democrats have an obligation to the American people who voted for a new direction in Iraq. The Democratic-controlled Congress needs to take a stand against this President and say they will not give him any more money.

“The only way to end this war is to stop funding it. It doesn’t take a vote to end this war. The only thing required is honesty, integrity and a willingness to end the war. Congress needs to end the war and bring our troops home.”

4. Yes they are paying attention to the media!
All of our rights as citizens sit in the hands of Americans who only open their eyes to their televisions, it makes me sick. If you put Dennis Kucinich in the title of your post, only Kucinich supporters really pay attention to it. The rest follow the medias brainwashing and ignore it, this is why our country continues to elect people that only play political games to get elected and then continue the same pandering to the corporations. We as Americans, see our rights being attacked and do nothing to help the situation. I hate the fact that no one will even open their eyes and minds and look away from their favorite candidate for a minute, to see if there is something better out there? I started out as a Obama supporter, I still like him but was lucky enough to learn more about Kucinich here on DU. I am fortunate enough that I distrust the media and wanted to educate myself on other candidates to find out who may be the best one for our country. Not many here on DU will even take a moment to look, its their candidate or bust! And when I say bust, I mean Clinton. Everyone says I am for ..... and if they don't get the nomination then I will vote for Clinton because she is a democrat. I think this is an ass backwards way of thinking.

Yes I am frustrated and ranting, I fear me and my families rights and quality of life will continue to disappear because others in America refuse to see the game the media and its politicians continue to play? I don't get it!

5. About that timeline...
As DK said when asked about his support for the various democratic plans for a phased withdrawal,"Yeah, I've got a timeline. It's called now."

And he's unelectable because.....?

He's not unelectable. Tptb know that. The "unelectable" bullshit is the onlything they've got left to bar the gates. If he were getting equal air time, equal press, those gates would come crashing down, because he is the best representation of what so many people who don't really know anything about him but the "unelectable," "short," "elf," etc. smears are crying out for.

9. He is right. It IS a stall, not a withdrawal.
Congressman Kucinich,

Yours is the best statement on this situation than any I've read to date. Thank you!!!

10. Another great clarity
among the Dems exposing the hogwash. What the American people see and hear though in the MSM is a president versus critics frame. Bush could slaughter children during the easter egg roll and then be given the lead respectful headline explaining his actions. No where does the awful truth suspend this absurd deference to obvious harmful lies. The Emperor's New Clothes has the awful irrelevance of having the crowd glued to papers and screens telling them how wonderful it all is no matter how many kids in the crowd start laughing, no matter if the crowd itself joins in. Everyone knows the reality is a farce but the false decorum continues unabated.

Still waiting for the local papers and national news to raise to the level of the Onion. Sometimes I sense editorial satire bitterly repressed in the way the paper is laid out, yet they are incapable of doing anything except enforcing Bush's legitimacy to be the champ and ruler, way beyond anything they have done even for popular and legal presidents who were competent. I think it is the same thing crippling the Dems in Congress. The absurdity of having the rules of the game resided over by a monstrosity so that you can't touch it without the whole thing crumbling into its real, terrible truth.

We have laughed, shouted, pointed to and described the facts easily and in detail. The sycophants and the distant upper structure of America rumbles on in revolting acquiescence to the charade, heedless of mockery, reality or their own arrogant futility.

Kucinich leads people to realize that a huge chunk of their reps are sane and committed, not ready to be committed as insane. Yet the ridiculous repression parade continues and the Emperor has no shame to begin with. Is there any doubt that Kucinich is a nominee we could be proud of? Our shameful doubts are built on the lack of victory of simple clear thinking prevailing. Whoever the banner carrier, this irrational power of lies must be taken on square and its instruments held accountable. Dennis is right up there for the authentic voice we need to hear.
