Let's talk about the "brave" Petraeus....
...here is a list of his awards:

Defense Distinguished Service Medal
Distinguished Service Medal (with Oak Leaf Clusters)
Defense Superior Service Medal (with Oak Leaf Clusters)
Legion of Merit (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters)
Bronze Star Medal (with “V” Device)
Defense Meritorious Service Medal
Meritorious Service Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters)
Joint Service Commendation Medal
Army Commendation Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters)
Joint Service Achievement Medal
Army Achievement Medal

Number one point, with the exception of the Bronze Star with a V device (for valor), which given his biography was probably earned while serving in the Balkans where shots were rarely fired, the entire list is composed of service medals which can be earned by anything putting a Powerpoint presentation together (usually at the junior officer level) to being in command of a logistics project (at the flag officer level). Point number two, scan the list again, note the lack of a single Purple Heart, which leads me to believe that the "Lion of the Headquarters and Headquarters Command" has never heard a shot fired in anger. In other words, stacked up against an infantry NCO who leads a squad or a fire team, this "brave" soldier is a warrior of the paper pusher kind.

This "brave" man is a REMF and the troops know it.

1. You mean the ass-kissing little chickenshit?
I've never served in the military, but I've seen enough of his type to recognize it right off. What a shame to have a fuckwad like that leading our troops.

3. He probably got the Bronze Star for the Grenada invasion.
They said Reagan passed out medals to White House staffers in that one. More medals than troops who took part in the invasion.

4. TommyFranks gave Petraeus the Bronze Star when Petraeus was a 2-star general.
You make up your own mind on whether this was generals taking care of each other or if Petraeus, a division comander at the time, was "in the shit." I spent several years in the infantry and two combat tours and I never saw a general anywhere near "the shit."

6. I figured it was something like that.
Courage above and beyond the call of duty, using a map pointing device.

14. Petraeus's Bronze Star with 'V' device
In another thread someone said he earned it when he was a 2-star general commanding the 101st Airborne division in Iraq in 2003 and had to defend his command post when it came under attack in Najaf. No link was provided and the best I could dig up was this:

How much combat did the 101st see? How close were you to the action?

The 101st had sharp fights in three Shiite cities -- Najaf, Karbala, and Hilla -- and I witnessed each of those in detail, thanks to Gen. Petraeus's penchant for loitering in the front lines. He got close enough to have Iraqi machine gun fire stitch the ground next to our Humvee and, on one occasion, to have a U.S. Air Force bomb detonate behind us. There were other harrowing moments, including the helicopter flight into Iraq from Kuwait during the beginning of a monstrous sandstorm.

I'd much appreciate it if anyone could find out more, including the actual commendation/citation.

9. No it doesn't.....
...the reaction by "patriotic" RepubliCONs demeans us. This man is being held up as an example of a warrior by these sychophants and those of us who know what a warrior is take exception. And if this man remains a "silent partner" during all the kudos and accolades then he gets the privilege of being scrutinized.

Fallon is right, he's an ass kissing chickenshit of the worst order and every combat veteran knows it.

10. Also, he's a PT freak....
...which is fine becasue I'm one too, but I don't want any more leaders - who should be using their brains not their brawn - spending more than an hour a day exercising. His patron, PINOTM (President in Name Only) spends up to three hours a day exercising during midday (and core business hours). Also, a recent report had PINOTM shouting "air assault" (like a crazy person) and I believe there's a strong connection between the former Screaming Eagle and his eager, little, puppy wuppy boss.

15. My brother's 101st Airborne in the 1960s was AIRBORNE not AIR ASSAULT (Airmobile)

But the "All the Way!" intensity still goes.

IMO that *spirit* is laudable (good for esprit de corps) IF not carried into absurdity. :hi:
