I'm probably the most politically involved person I know. Mostly because of DU and other places like it, I know what's going on and how screwed up things are. And I share what I know. Little comments here and there at work, discussions with my wife and friends. Posting some of my essays on local lists.
A few people think of me as a leftist ideologue when, ironically, I consider myself one of what Thom Hartmann calls the "radical middle." I'm just louder and more obnoxious about it than some. At least in writing. I try to be far more subtle in person.
The fact is that I'm pissed off. I'm pissed off at the bait and switch. Growing up I heard "the land of the free and the home of the brave" and, though I remember how the Iranians helped beat Jimmy Carter and install Runny Rayguns into office, I hoped to grow up to inherit a world that wasn't controlled by thoughtless, self-absorbed bigots and fundies. Runny was an idjit, but he wasn't really a shithead.
Not like THESE shitheads. They don't respect Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, OR Freedom of the Press. They also don't give a rat's ass for the 4th or 5th Amendments. Freedom of Assembly? Sure. Where you won't bother anyone.
The Geneva accords aren't "quaint." They're necessary to protect American interests and American soldiers.
I pissed a lot of freepers off with my "...we think he's a criminal" thread. I'll bet they think I'm a crank. No. I'm just an average guy with an average life and a slightly above average talent for stringing words together. Because I can communicate, I choose to communicate to the world what I and others like myself are feeling about the cowardly, lying, imperialistic bigot who's infested the White House. And all his imperialistic bigot friends.
This administration speaks to the lowest common denominator of Americans...That's all who's listening anymore. Everyone else is looking around and saying "what's all THIS shit?" Even a lot of the Republicans in Congress, the ones who'd backed this fiasco the whole time, are right now trying to figure out how to distance themselves without LOOKING like they're distancing themselves.
That's a dance on the edge of a razor blade if I've ever seen one.
Well, that shit is brought to you courtesy of BushCo, a subsidary of Halliburton. Just another big prick trying to spread the socially transmitted disease of Republicanism to all corners of the globe.
Democracy my ass. What they're trying to spread has nothing to do with democracy.
They wouldn't know Democracy if it bit them.
And I'm hoping next year it's going to bite them hard. Those of you lurkers who don't like hearing that? The truth sucks, doesn't it?

The President told of all of us that he, and only he, dictates what happens in Iraq. And then he explained we were all at risk to die horrible deaths, at the hands of "terrists",if we didn't agree.
He told us he will keep troops in the Mid East as long as he damn well pleases and the next president can deal with it after that.
His face was rouged, his eyes were cold and blank.
Only because the corporomedia has been applying layer after layer of lacquer on the Dorian Gray painting have the repercussions not yet come home to roost.
Watch out when the ones who have been fooled all the time realize they've been had.
