Besides being in constant outrage about bush** and the cabal....

We're having a special election because a state senator in my area (not in my district) was caught up in the TN Waltz sting operation. There are 4 candidates on the ballot: 1 who is a lifelong Dem who has always supported the Dem party; 1 who was hand-picked by the DLC forces in the county who has never been active in the party before, but who is the chosen one; one candidate who contributed to the Corker campaign, worked for him, and appeared in one of his ads; one who I've never seen at any of our functions, but he spent yesterday afternoon in Zach Wamp's (my repuke rep) office prior to attending our event last evening.

As I've stated before about that big tent theory, "frequently we're screwed by one of the tent poles!" I can't believe that these 2 ever were allowed to get their names on the ballot, and there are other factors involved in this election, too.

This kind of shit is exactly why we struggle in the south! :hi: :mad:

An agreement announced this weekend between U.S.-based Hunt Oil Co. and the self-ruled Kurdish administration of northern Iraq to explore for oil is illegal, Iraq's oil minister Hussain al-Shahristani said Monday.

Those comments underscore the central government's view that exploration contracts with foreign companies should be signed only after the adoption of a new national oil law, which has been stalled for months.

"Any oil deal has no standing as far as the government of Iraq is concerned," al-Shahristani said as he arrived for an OPEC meeting in Vienna. "All these contracts have to be approved by the Federal Authority before they are legal. This (contract) was not presented for approval. It has no standing."

Hunt Oil, a privately held independent oil company, and the Kurdish regional government said Saturday they had signed a production-sharing contract for petroleum exploration in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq. Terms were not disclosed.

Iraq's northern Kurdish administration has demanded that Baghdad's oil minister be sacked, following his remarks that oil contracts signed by the regional government are "illegal." The call by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) late Thursday deals another blow to attempts by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to forge a national consensus on the controversial issue of dividing up the spoils of Iraq's vast oil reserves.

Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahristani should quit rather than "interfere in the internal affairs" of the Kurdish region, KRG spokesman Khalid Saleh told reporters in Irbil.

Shahristani at a recent meeting of OPEC in Vienna said that all oil contracts signed in Iraq's Kurdish region are "illegal" as a controversial oil law is yet to be passed in the Parliament.
