2. Maybe he can run as a Democrat instead of retire.
He kind of makes up just a tiny bit for the noxious Lieberman.

5. He is a strict conservative
And I say that not to disparage him.
He is NOT a Democrat. His social policies are conservative and do not fit the meld of a candidate that progressives would vote for.
He is what Republicans are supposed to be.

8. And what consistently gets forgotten is that he was elected in Nebraska by machines manufactured by
the company he had been CEO of. A fact generally left off his resume.
===============================
Although he was pressured by some to run for Governor of Virginia, where he had lived for 20 years, in 1992 Hagel moved back to Nebraska to become president of the McCarthy Group, an investment banking firm. He also served as CEO of American Information Systems Inc. (AIS), a voting machine manufacturer, which changed its name to Election Systems & Software (ES&S) in 1997.
===============================
from Wiki bio.

6. I watched it AND
I said to myself, if republicans had the character, the truth and the class and feeling of this man this country would be tract to really get our greatness back.

This is what I have been telling every one. Back in the 50's and 60's republicans were more compassionate and truthful. (There were some exceptions of course) How in the hell they ever involved into the bunch of people who are republicans today I can not understand. The only thing I know is, the corporations have poured so damn much money into the republicans pockets, the republicans have laid down and prostrated themselves for them this country is headed for implosion.

9. Top on the list was that Iraq was the biggest blunder in the history of our country.
He also said that it was awful how Shrub used Patraeus for political reasons. He also talked about how the Republican party was fucked up.

11. Irony
An Anti-war Republican Hagel is likely to be replaced by a Democratic war-supporter Kerrey.

12. I disagree with most of what Hagel stands for yet I can
respect his right as an American to espouse his principles. He is not a RWing Zealot. He is a Conservative, unlike Busholini & most of the Junta. They are Fascists.

13. That is ironic--there's only two anti-war R Senators, and only a couple
of pro-war Dems (counting Lieberman as a Dem in this case), and Nebraska happens to have one of both--and they're very good friends. We are a very conflicted people out here in the cornfields.
