Bush supporters/enablers exhibiting major character flaws, methinks...
John Dean, on the Diane Rehm show last week, brought up what I thought was a great point - his quote was something like "not all conservatives are authoritarians, but all authoritarians are conservatives. And, of authoritarians, a few are the dictator type leaders, the rest are those that need to be dictated to".

So, I think that there are two things at play here - much of the 30% remaining Bushenablers are the authoritarians who have no spine, imagination, and think that their major purpose in life is to follow - and they have quite a character to follow. Which brings me to how the major character flaw contributes - the inability to admit mistakes...the absolute horror of changing ones mind. We are seeing people, those following and leading authoritarians, just digging in their heels - they can't even see, or consider, the fact that they may have been misled, or are wrong. Because that is a sign either of incompetence (their own), weakness (again, their own), ignorance or stupidity - yet they were, and are, being duped.

The problem is that it isn't their dysfunctional friend or local minister who is the problem. It is the supposed leader of the free world, and he is taking the world down with him.

That we seem powerless to change this absolute mess of a human being's influence is just incomprehensible to me.

1. John Dean has enlightened me.
His "Conservatives without Conscience" stated that 30 % will always believe in an authority figure, and that is Bush approval rating. As Randi Rhodes states, anyone who is still for Bush is a waste of breath trying to convince otherwise. They are fixed, hardwired.

2. I think maybe the basic problem is that there are 2 sets of rules in play--
the conventional ones, involving civility, compromise, trying to see the point of view of your opponent and all that, and then there is the other set of rules, which boil down to "Win at any cost." The Dems keep acting as if both sides were bound by the first set of rules, while the Puggies are playing by the second set. We keep bending over and they keep raping us with a round rasp. They never quit, and we never learn.

3. Abusive Parent Syndrome
Ever wonder why women who are beaten again and again by their man stay with him and actually defend him, or how abused children can still love the parent who just put them in a hospital? There is some correlation between this and our current political climate. How do therapists treat this disorder?

4. the average serial killer is a repuklican...
if simple is as simple does, in gorgebushamerka, then let's just follow that logical with 'all republ...gopigs, therefor are SERIAL KILLERS!' Every goddam one of em! Old Joe Stalin recognised something like this (it really took several years of bush gopiggery to put Stalin, who took a busted down 3rd world nation and made it a military THREAT to mr pig, with nukes and missile to deliver them) when he basically killed off the 'capitalists' reactionaries and made his name a synonym for cruelty etc
the main gop character flaw, i fear, may be 'they live'
(if anyone thinks such thinking might cause the forces of reaction to tighten up and become even less 'reasonable' because we scaring them etc is being precious- bush gopigs wants to kill you. period. nothing we say/do gonna change that...)
