Will Hillary appoint Obama to the Supreme Court?
<http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2007/09/14/law-blog-qa-the-new-yorkers-jeffrey-toobin/>

Jeff Toobin from ABC has a book out on the Supreme Court. He says if Hillary gets the nomination and wins she will appoint Obama to the Supreme Court. He denies wanting it but the denial was half-hearted.

What do you think?

2. I doubt she would
I can see why Obama wouldn't outright say no he wouldn't want to be on the Supreme Court, I'd think anyone that's studied or taught or practiced constitutional law would jump at the chance. But I don't think being a Supreme Court justice is in Obama's goals for his life. I'd see it as a sedentary life for him, and that he'd prefer the life of actively protecting the rights of others.

10. What better way is there to protect the rights of others than by being on the Supreme Court?
Even being President wouldn't insure his ability to more thoroughly influence the course of this country.

13. I didn't mean to put it that way
I just think he would prefer the active role, as he did in Chicago before going into the state legislature, versus the Supreme Court. But then I wouldn't think he'd turn down a chance at the Supreme Court either.

But then who knows? It's not like I've been having chats with Obama on this. :)

3. Wow!
I would not have thought of that.

If she is the nominee, and is elected, and made the offer .....he'd surely take it. And he would be one of the outstanding Justices of modern times.

5. "Outstanding Justices of modern times" Yes, agreed
But even tho supremes are lifetime, I would still rather see Obama as Prez.

6. It seems too
early for anyone to say that Senator Clinton will be the democratic nominee. I know that many of her supporters believe she will be, and some of her staff attempts to make it sound like she has won it already. But it's far too early to say that type of thing.

I think that Obama would be a very good president, too.

4. Where do they get this stuff?
However, if he was put on the court he would be very good and very young and could last many years in helping shape law.

11. He will become her Vice-President
Clark her Secretary of Defense and Dodd her Secretary of State. IMO that is how it will happen.

15. Game plan: Madame President, Speaker Pelosi and Majority leader Reid should...
... announce that Congress, which has such sole power, intends to expand the size of the Supreme Court from nine to thirteen.

Then Madame President should nominate Obama, John Edwards, (Republican) David Iglesias and (former congressperson) Barbara Kennelly.

I'd wager that that move alone would give Fat Tony, Slappy, Sam the Sham and Chief Justice Stepford (i.e. Scalia, Thomas, Alito and Roberts) spontaneous cerebral hemorrhages -- making room for four more replacements for judicial extremists.

17. Why stop there? Let's play Hillary's administration. Lets fill in all the positions...
since it's a cakewalk.

There are gonna be some REAL pissed off people here when and if she wins, and the war continues through her term. Which is an almost certainty, as she will not be the Democrat that lost the middle east.
