Hillary Will Pick Wes Clark as Her VP. Also, I Posted on April 3rd That Clark Would Endorse Hillary
Edited on Sat Sep-15-07 03:08 PM by David Zephyr
By Spring of this year, it became painfully obvious to me that General Wes Clark would not be running for president. Knowing how many people around the country were still so ardent in their hopes he would run, I posted here at the DU that he should make his intentions clear.

I posted back then that I "expected Wes to endorse Hillary." Now he has.

All that said, Clark's endorsement today of Hillary Clinton only underscores how difficult it will now be for Barack Obama, John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich and the rest (all superb candidates in their own right) to prevent Hillary's continued steam roll to the nomination.

So, I will go out on another limb, and I know I'm right:

For all the great Clark supporters, if there is any consolation, it is this: Hillary (with Bill's support) will choose General Clark to be her Vice President.

Bookmark this thread if you wish. You can hold me to it, but Hillary will pick Wes Clark.

And General Clark will make a very, very formidable VP candidate both in any debates and on the stump.

Below are two of my posts in April where I "expected Wes Clark to endorse Hillary" and that, as a Clark supporter, I'd "braced myself" for it and hoped others would not be too disappointed.

5. Clark will deliver votes that Hillary couldn't get on her own in the general election.
Hillary will now carry W. Virginia, Ohio, Arkansas, Missouri and Louisiana with Clark at her side.

It will be an electoral rout.

9. I heard she is already leading in Arkansas and Kentucky
but yes, I believe he would help her anyway.

2. No one knows that yet. I've heard various rumors floated about who
Clinton might choose should she get the opportunity.

11. And if not
Edited on Sat Sep-15-07 03:58 PM by JNelson6563
I would label the Clintons as Lucy with the football and Clark (once again) playing their Charlie Brown.

I guess we can only wait and see on this.

3. Agree completely.
With Clark as her VP, she will pick up a lot of supporters she wouldn't have otherwise. AND - most importantly - Clark's diplomacy and military skills are what we need to get out of Iraq the best way possible.

4. Besides, if it's HRC, both our party and the country are screwed.

What's this idolization of retired (that means civilian) "General" Officers?

Gosh, this love for authority figures were touted by who many of us thought of as "The Reagan Democrats." :(

23. The country, SortnFiery, is already "screwed". Hillary couldn't possibly do worse than GWB.
In fact, none of the Republicans running for President could do as poor a job as GWB.

Also, I am not an idolizer of generals. Hardly.

I'm not cheer-leading for Hillary. It's just that she pretty much has the nomination locked now.

And as I've posted here many times, when the NEA endorses her, it's all over.

Just so you know, I was a Brown delegate to the DNC in Manhattan in 1992 fighting the Clintons with hammer and tongs.

I've been at this a very long time. Reality is reality.

Unless Al Gore or John Kerry enter the race, it's now Hillary's.

14. This endorsement certainly changes the equation...
Even if he were not to take a VP slot, he would make an outstanding Secty. of State or Secty. of Defense. He certainly knows where the problems are at the Pentagon and who the problems are.

Mayhap the dawn of a new day. Things were getting pretty dreary.

15. It would be a Formidable Ticket......
Edited on Sat Sep-15-07 08:59 PM by KoKo01
except that Mainstream America...isn't really engaged at this point being light years behind us Politico's who live 24/7 for Politics.

Would Mainstream America go into extasy over Hillary/Clark Presidency? Or would they be looking to the Repug Side figuring that another Clinton Presidency is more scandal on Fox news..and they might just be getting tired of the Spin...working three jobs and all.

BUT..you'd say those folks working those Three Jobs DON'T VOTE! It's only the hard core who turn out at the polls like us here on the Lefty Blogosphere and the Right Wing Mellon-Scaife's and MS Ruppert Murdoch Media who will show up...and leave the rest in the Dust.

Gotta tell you....there will be "twists and turns" for this next election that no one will be able to fortell...and SURPRISES that we can't fathom right now from our perspective.

I'm voting with my CONSCIENCE THIS TIME, though. Not the ABB or whatever we are asked or TOLD to do.

So...I feel freer than I have ever felt to do what I feel is best in casting my puny vote for '08.

Many surprises and much angst ahead. There's just TOO MUCH at STAKE for this '08 Election to go "lightly" like in times past.

21. "It is not over till it is over." The campaign has not even really begun.
"The bigger they are the harder they fall." No votes have been cast and no one declared a winner. Polls don't mean much right now.

25. I told my husband this about a year ago.
I'm not surprised, and I'm perfectly O.K. with it. on the grand scale of things.

Is it my perfect world? No. But with maturity has come realization and practicality.

Clark is a VERY GOOD man, and if the U.S. had listened to Hillary 17 <> years ago, we'd all be better off now.
