Kool-Aid drinker of the day!
At the pro-war "Gathering Of Eagles" rally today...

Debbie Lee, mother of the first Navy SEAL killed in Iraq, Mark A. Lee, speaks. Describing her son’s heroism. “You can’t ‘take’ someone’s life who gives it…and Mark willingly gave his life….God redeployed Mark to heaven.”

6. That's what's sad.
She has to twist it all the way around to that level to find comfort.

12. But when she is contributing to causing others similar pain?
Edited on Sat Sep-15-07 04:20 PM by treestar
None of us gets carte blanche, no matter what we've suffered.

Her prowar position allows others to suffer the same pain.

And I'd love to know her views on Cindy Sheehan.

13. That's not a strong enough reason for me
I can criticize her war position and any comments she makes against Cindy without attacking her statements about her son's death.

11. That is sad
First for the mother losing her child. Then for this idea that it's good when we lose people. Almost as if the more people we lose, the more we're 'proving' something, as if without death, it wouldn't be good enough... :grr:

14. Reminds me of the story I heard last week
an arab woman was supposed to have thrown back the head of her decapitated son, when it was returned to her by the killers, as proof of his death.. She is supposed to have thrown it back at them, saying "You cannot give me back, what I have given willingly to Allah"..

not much difference, eh?
