Stuffed Santa, Homeland Sec brochures, jars of brown liquid beside a pic of Bush evac GA post office
This has to be the bizarre story of the hour:

September 14, 2007

Several jars of brown liquid were found lying beside a picture of President Bush, some Homeland Security pamphlets, and a stuffed Santa Claus inside the lobby of a post office in Sandy Springs Friday morning.

The discovery prompted the evacuation of dozens of people from two office buildings and one building in a nearby apartment complex, as well as the closing of 200 yards in the 5400 block of Glenridge Drive.

The bizarre collection, which included 10 to 15 Mason jars filled with an unknown liquid, was reported by a custodian who found them upon arriving for work about 7 a.m.

"He knew something was concerning. He did mention to me that he's an Army veteran so he wasn't panicked by it but he knew it was something clearly shouldn't be there," said Michael Miles of the U.S. Postal Service.

.....

The bomb squad and hazardous materials teams arrived at the scene by mid-morning. At one point, a robot was used to carry the stuffed Santa Claus out of the post office. It was deemed harmless.

.....

As far as the liquid in the Mason jars, the test results on those have not returned.

6. I just read about Sandy Springs in Harper's
It's a wealthy Atlanta suburb that has completely privatized their local government services, retaining only 4 public employees in a municiplaty of 87,000 people. I wonder if there's any connection between that fact and this incident.
