News coverage of the "die-in" and such in D.C.
I just got back from work and I was wondering whether the network or cable news stations played anything of the protests today. Anyone know what kind of coverage it got? If any?

1. I don't think we'll know until the morning.
We got bites here where I live and Reuters ran a photo.

But I have to say, as the media hooligan for our event, it was like banging your head against a wall. I've promoted all kinds of things and some of them very successfully, but there is a big old stand down on protests in the media, as far as I can tell -- especially judging from my local media contacts who seem sort of ashamed about not covering our event.

The net will do a better job and it's not clear if Yahoo! and Google are censoring this coverage as they censor stuff in China or even, the reconciliation movement in Israel.

Imho, the networking we do is our best weapon right now against this blackout. That, and the growing Indy media movement.

2. Short blurb on CNN tonight; NPR headlines ran it as lead story
with sound from the rally, etc.

3. If some Dem Congressional leaders and the candidates had the courage to
show up and support the protest and show that they're serious about ending the war then I imagine the major networks would have been all over the day's events like white on rice. But since it seems their position on ending the occupation and bringing the troops home is tepid at best, official Democratic Party representation was zero, I believe. So a grand opportunity to turn the Betrayus/Crockfullofbushit report and Dimson's speech right on its head and expose all the lies and put the bastards on the defensive big time on the Sunday Drone shows for Monday headlines is lost. The fact that thousands of folks made their way to DC and marched and protested will be nothing more than a footnote and written off as 'crazy radicals.' Never mind the facts of teachers, stock brokers, veterans, tradesmen and women, salespeople, waitrons, doctors, peace officers were all members of the protest march, It's gonna be a blip.
