1. Good one...I've been following the Sunday Strip
...bringing attention to the battle zone sexual attacks.
How she had to ignore them due to a mostly male command chain and accusation of complicity.
Don't ask, don't tell if you've been raped, it'll give the war a bad name.

I often wonder though, if females should be deployed to front line capacity. Not only for this reason, but I think other social issues enter into it. Being under fire with an as yet unknown pregnancy being one that disturbs me.

POW status is another.

7. Perhaps someone can explain to me
how terrorizing and undermining the stability of fellow soldiers is not treason.

I have never understood the tolerance within the armed forces for ANY persecution of troops by troops. Did it ever occur to them that it weakens the effectiveness of the forces?

4. My gods, I love Garry Trudeau's work. He can be searingly honest
I remember my sister feminists pushing for women to join the military in all capacities, and I remember wondering if this was in any sense a good idea. ...

Thanks for posting this, Hissy.

9. I hope I live to see the day when Gary Trudeau has NOTHING to write about..
*Sigh* the chances of that happening are slim indeed.

We are witnessing a genius at the top of his craft.

13. See "The Brave One" with Jodie Foster. This cartoon has a similar message, if not so extreme.
The final scene of the cartoon is a sly, and unerringly true, moment where the two women share their obvious enjoyment of a moment where revenge COULD be possible.

Of course, Foster's film takes this idea to its extreme, but the sentiment behind it is fueled by rage.

"The Brave One" has been described as a liberal's support for vigilante justice. I don't know about that, but the film takes the notion to its extreme: what if I had a gun and could end the violence of at least some violent people who are predators in our society?

An interesting dichotomy!
