Iraq has said Blackwater has to leave.

So what if our arrogant leaders say no, we won't pull out Blackwater, you (Iraqis) have no right to kick them out?

What does this say about Iraq's sovereignty?

Anyone else following me here?

If they don't let our rough, tough Blackwater security forces stay, that means they hate our freedoms. Our freedoms to parade, armed through the streets of a sovereign nation, our freedoms to let those with the most $$$ make the rules; our freedoms to open fire on civilians if we one of them gives us the hairy eyeball.

Why are they afraid of our armed, answer-to-no one-private security forces? Are they afraid we will find something there? What are they hiding, after all, WMDs??? Oh shit.

I vote we invade Iraq to rid them of dangerous weapons, so they can't use them against us - and make a regime change while we're there.

Oh... wait.

4. I see your point. Why would we say "no" to a government we installed...
Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 11:47 AM by KansDem
...during our "Spreading Democracy" period that we no longer view that government as valid? (our "Spreading Democracy" period came right after our "Saddam has WMDs" period and right before our "We're fighting al Qaeda in Iraq" period)

So tell this woman...

...that the government she helped to elect isn't doing what we want, so we'll just ignore her government's demands.

Oh, yeah, and explain that to the millions of dead and displaced Iraqis who fell victim to The Pricktator's lust for oil...

6. I am wondering/speculating
that the US may indeed refuse to pull Blackwater out. After all, the war can't be waged without all those contractors. So yes, we might say no to Iraq. And what does that say about our respect for Iraq's sovereignty? Isn't that the goal of our continued presence there? To help Iraq become a sovereign nation?

But is the US ready to say okay, Iraq, you're sovereign enough to make your own decisions; bye, see you at the next mideast reunion!

I think this deal with Blackwater is about the most significant event in Iraq in a long long time. Could be a real turning point for us and this war.

7. But if he does that, he needs to bring all our troops home
If Iraq is truly sovereign, they don't need our military presence.

9. Even if Blackwater leaves, there are still many more privatized mercs still in Iraq.
Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 11:53 AM by Whoa_Nelly
Iraq is absolutely the most fucked up mess with which our nation has been (illegally) involved.

(Apologies to Laural abnd Hardy fans. I love those guys, too. But, the pic is a good representation of the BushCo Idiocracy)

On edit: Someone please take the pic and put in Chimp and Vader! ;)

12. Isn't this what we SAY we WANT?
An independent Iraqi government charting its own course for the nation? Making its own decisions?

It will indeed be interesting to see the fallout from this. Condi was supposedly getting on the phone with Maliki immediately.

Banana Republic, or not? Stay tuned.

17. I'm going to take it in another direction
Al Maliki will and has revoked the licences of Blackwater.
This will improve his standing in Iraq - to stand up to the American occupation. This will actually improve his status.

America will agree to pull out Blackwater in deference to the new Iraq government, soverignty and all that stuff.

Blackwater will change its name and remain there.

Everyone is fooled into thinking Blackwater is gone, when they aren't - and America backing down to the Iraqi government will help that government's image in its own nation.
