Does anyone else think Hillary is going to move to the right when she gets the nomination? |
|
I'm absolutely convinced that Hillary will move sharply to the right after securing the Dem nomination.
Will that turn any of you off her candidacy?

31. The RW is "MEME". I think this an excellent, perceptive question. |
|
I am absolutely POSITIVE she will not take this country any further RIGHT TOWARDS THE ELITIST CORPORACRATS ADJOINED TO EXTREME RELIGIOSITIES.
She would be the greatest leader since JFK and would have to work damn hard to survive her presidency.

She's too cozy with the corporations for my liking and I have no doubt she will veer even further to the right to get those votes, so she can win for sure.

8. I'm being told that by numerous people here on DU.. |
|
They are sure Hillary is going to get the nomination and that she will fire up the Dem base to vote.
I'm just asking the natural next question.
Will Hillary move to the right after she gets the nomination?

14. Actually if you ask the people here (I have) they will overwhelmingly Say No To Hillary |
|
I've put up polls here asking the question who will or should be or should not be the nominee several times. In each case the resuls indicated that the pople here do not support Hillary, by a wide margin. Generally if you ask in the positive, "Do you want her?" only about 20% say yes, if you ask in the negative "who do you not want?" about 75% say they don't want her to be the nominee.
Try it for yourself, you'll see.

We made it through September 14th without World War III breaking out.
Hillary's nomination being inevitable is what the MSM want us to believe. I don't buy it but if she pulls it off you can bet your sweet ass she is going to swing hard to the right to out flank Rudy or Fred.

Not completely convinced but a damn good case can be made for inevitability.
My question was just based on the premise put forth by those who seem to love Hillary.

13. I've had some interesting experiences lately.. |
|
I had someone take the Political Compass test not too long ago, they were quite sure they were conservative Christian and were somewhat shocked to find out that they fell into the libertarian leftist quadrant of the PC. Not as far libertarian and leftist as I am but well into the quadrant nonetheless.
Many people aren't really as conservative as they think they are when you query them on actual issues.

10. She can try to go as far right as she wants to |
|
but the reports I hear from my Rethuglican friends tell me that her voice is just too painful to listen to. As far as I can tell if she wants to attract those people she will have to keep her mouth shut, fund only upper-middle class projects and continue to kill brown people in the wings off stage right. Sorry to be so blunt but I have had my fill of Democrats that look to me like died in the wool PNAC'ers. Where will it stop. Peace, Kim

that's for sure, but her coziness with the corporations makes me ill to think about how nothing will really change if she gets elected. I think she is self-serving enough to go whichever way the wind blows. In this way, she is too much of an "experienced" politician.

19. I don't think so. She's hardly running to the left right now - (and gets heat for it here) - |
|
and in the primaries, the Democrats are "supposed" to run to the left a little. I suspect it's all part of her truly expert winning campaign. Sure she triangulates, but I think she's planned far enough ahead and is ALREADY running for the general election not the primaries, and that she has positioned herself exactly where she wants to be already, and will not move -- thus depriving her hapless Repub opponent of any traction with flip-flop accusations.

during the primaries. If she manages to win, she'll take a right turn in an attempt to attract moderate Republicans.
Of course, since Clinton's already starting at the right edge of the field, I have to expect she'll be marginalizing just about everyone to the left of John Edwards, in a futile attempt to attract people on the right, who would rather have venereal disease than vote for her.
She'll triangulate herself right out of the White House, as her husband would've done without Perot's help.

34. Any farther right than she is now... |
|
...and she'll have to shorten her left leg to equalize the tilt and get back to walking upright.
There are more than 300 million people in this country and I'm supposed to believe that Hillary Clinton is the best we can find in that gigantic talent pool? It would take a thousand Hillarys to match the intellect, integrity and concern for actual, normal people of Dennis Kucinich.
But he's been tried and found guilty by mass media of being "unelectable," so we won't have to concern ourselves with the idea that an actual Democrat might win the Democratic party's nomination. Far better to go with some moderate-right, corporate-funded, bribocracy suck-up than an honest, sentient human being.
As he said recently when asked to comment on various democratic proposals for Iraq exit timelines, "Yeah, I've got a timeline. It's called NOW." Well, that's just an insult to thinking people everywhere. How dare he advocate that the US escape without further loss of life -- either American or Iraqi?
Everybody knows these things take time. Just about the time it takes for democrats play footsie with BushCo until January 2009 when congenital democratic idiocy will result in them inheriting the blame for the occupation.
Ah god, another rant. I'm getting so cynical that it's amazing I can continue to function in "normal" society.
