Applying pressure to stores in general to end this war. What weekday should people not buy products?

Store owners, large malls, gas station owners have to pay rent regardless whether people show up or not. They still have to pay for electricity, water, and other utilities. This purchasing strike will take place either 4 or 8 days a month countrywide.

We should also weekly avoid shopping on one or two days as to pressure store owners to get this war ended. When you do shop yo utell the store owner that you will not buy on such and such a day or days until the war ends. They will sit up and take notice.

What days every week should we avoid shopping, except for emergencies?

1. One day a week boycotts don't work
All that does is get people to buy what they would have on X day on another day. The only kind of boycotts history has shown to work are the ones that are total and last until conditions are met.

3. Then we'll do 2 days a week boycotts then.
and yes these stores have to use electricity, water, and other utilities the days they do not get a lot of business.

5. but they get MORE business on the non-boycott days.
they don't pay their utility bills daily, so it all evens out.

one or two day boycotts are stupid.

9. The same amount of electricty and water on days they aren't boycotted?
So they still sell the same amount of good every week, and use the same amount of utilities every week. How exactly does that hurt them?

4. Other
I think it would be more productive to choose everyday products that people should refuse to buy. Damaging one key industry at at time would send a stronger and serious message.

10. Ok, what nonessential product can people boycott? Chocolate ice cream? Donuts? Cheesecake? LOL
What product can we do without until after the war ends?

What if everyone stopped shopping from Monday to Thursday every week until the war ends?

19. That just spikes Friday-Sunday
And would hurt the people working at the stores caught in the crossfire. Better to not buy specific products than to not buy on specific days.

7. I agree single day boycotts do not work
Better yet try boycotting altogether key things in the economy that will make a huge difference, like;
promising not to buy any new car until a plug in electric one is available at a reasonable price. Of only 20 or 30% if you dud that they would have one on the market in no time at all and be competing for the market share.
And if Wal Mare offends you don't shop there at all and do without the junk toys and crap that keep them in busness...it is not that hard to do without most of that stuff, and the things you really need can be found elsewhere, even at flea markets.

8. If we Do that, They Could Lay Off Some Staff and Close That Day
They'd make more money, not less.

15. The desire to do something whether it's effective or not
So we are going to be buying, in general the same amount of goods - just taking one day a week and not buying them on that day? How is that going to hurt the people desiring this war?

16. Wait - what is this supposed to accomplish?
I don't see how a general boycott of random businesses is going to change anything.
