O.J. facing 30+ years in prison on 7 felony charges
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070917/ap_on_re_us/simpson_questioned

Simpson was to be booked on two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit burglary and burglary with a firearm, police said. The district attorney, meanwhile, said he expected Simpson to ultimately be charged with seven felonies and one gross misdemeanor.

If convicted of the booking charges, Simpson would face up to 30 years in state prison on each robbery count alone.

"He is facing a lot of time," said Clark County District Attorney David Roger.

Even if more than a decade late.

3. Simpson, 60, has said he...(was) retrieving items that belonged to him
Edited on Sun Sep-16-07 09:56 PM by rocknation
...(from) a Las Vegas hotel room...Simpson has said there were no guns involved and that he went...only to get (the) stolen mementos...

...(He)...did not call the police to help reclaim the items because he has found the police unresponsive to him ever since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, were killed in 1994...

Oceans Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen were MOVIES, OJ...

6. they weren't his items
Once the court awarded them to the Goldmans, they no longer belonged to Simpson. The Goldmans were free to sell or dispose of them any way they wished.

If Simpson thinks he can just unilaterally decide to overrule the court decision, that just shows he is being stupid.

Edited on Sun Sep-16-07 11:34 PM by rocknation
"I require your assistance in recovering property that was stolen from me--by the court!"

Where in the world did he get idea that he could get away with something like this anyway--uh, never mind...

And still think.

In case you didn't notice, he's just been arrested for insisting that something that used to belong to him STILL belongs to him. And taking illegal action to secure it. Myself, I see his attitude has not changed a bit.

19. Stuff gets stolen from famous people all the time
Especially OJ. He is more than just a football star, he's an industry. His case has made stars out of media types galore. Collectors gets a load of money for seling his stuff.

And the police are no help to him because they have the same biased attitude that you have. This is still America. Not guilty means not guilty, whether we like it or not.

..if it weren't for an amazingly inept prosecution team, and some really sloppy field work by the LAPD the juice would have been behind bars a long time ago...

Not guilty means you go free and suffer no further harm or jeopardy from the government. In the case of OJ Simpson, the people who clamor loudest for 'justice' are the ones who have forgetten those rules that we live by that ensure justice.

Here's a little info for you: an excerpt from a tape of what happened.

OJ: "Mother , you think you can steal my and sell it?"

He asks the latter question several times on the tape before one of the men in the room says, "Mike took it."

Simpson responds, "I know Mike took it." A few seconds later, he tells one of the men, "I always thought you were a straight shooter." The man responds, "I'm cool. I am."

If all the stuff he took was his own memorabilia, they need to let him out of jail immediately.

Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 01:47 AM by sampsonblk
Most of the discussion of this incident involves the events of his previous case. No one cares that he may or may not have stolen his own stuff back from some scumbags. No one is even talking about that.

I don't hear anyone crying for the guys who supposedly got robbed. This is all about OJ's previous murder case.

21. No one talking about the "scumbags" who stole OJ's memorabilia
Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 09:17 AM by rocknation
because the scumbags turn out to be the legal system.

Simpson memorabilia auction nets $382,000 for families

Some of O.J. Simpson's most prized possessions hit the auction block...including his Heisman Trophy...

Simpson's property was seized after a civil trial found him liable for the deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.

Court-appointed receivers put 72 lots of property up for sale to help satisfy the $33 million judgment against Simpson. The auction...(was) handled...in Los Angeles and via the Internet...

OJ did a re-make of Ocean's Eleven instead of calling the cops because he knew he didn't have a legal claim to the property! He says he felt the cops wouldn't help him on account of his skating on his ex-wife's murder charge? TORO TURD!

23. I've never understood the kneejerk defense of OJ by some on the left
The fact that a wealthy guy can manipulate the legal system and essentially buy an acquittal doesn't sound like the type of things progressives should be very happy about. Even if that guy happens to be black.

I am supporting traditional liberal principles. If a man is acquitted, that's supposed to be the end of it. Or have you forgotten that?

On edit: And yes, I was for acquittal at the time of his trial. The procecution was absolutely awful. Amateurish.

32. Seems to me that there are quite a few who want to see the facts
and whether they actually support the charges in the case at hand.

If they do- then he ought to be tried and if convicted, sentenced just like any other person in a similar situation.

If they don't, then some of us worry that (yet again) the criminal justice system is being perverted to satisfy people's base emotions.

Vengeance- we demand our pound of flesh anyway we can get it.

End run around double jeopardy? No problem.

26. Try again
Were you aware that OJ has had a lot of his property stolen and sold? Its worth big money, ya know. REAL big money.

Here's something you should read:

OJ: "Mother , you think you can steal my and sell it?"

He asks the latter question several times on the tape before one of the men in the room says, "Mike took it."

Simpson responds, "I know Mike took it." A few seconds later, he tells one of the men, "I always thought you were a straight shooter." The man responds, "I'm cool. I am."...

How? From Where? Maybe OJ ARRANGED for Mike to take them so they couldn't be sold to the Goldmans. And I don't see anything about the victims having the property siezed from them.

Like other celebs, OJ Simpson gets his stuff stolen from time to time. Then it shows up on eBay. How hard is that to understand?

Plus the guy fessed up and blamed it on the other guy: "Mike took it."

Edit = typo

On the tape, he keeps yelling 'I can't believe you guys stole my stuff.'

And the other guy keeps saying it wasn't me, it was Mike.

All the haters are going to be really disappointed - again.

He apparently set those guys up to be there because he knew they had stolen his stuff.
