Why are any of these things under discussion? Because the circumcision, prostitution, pornography and restroom hijinks represent the outer limits of "acceptable" behavior. Tasering and spanking represent punishment for unacceptable behavior. The common issues are "What does authority have the right to punish and what punishment may authorities inflict for what behavior"? These are important questions. There is nothing trivial about them. And, yes, they are very political in a country that claims to be free and to protect the citizens from overreaching authority.
