House Judiciary Committee Meeting on Warrentless Wiretapping
Does anybody know what is going on with it? It was scheduled at 11am, and supposed to be on cspan3. It is advertised on the cspan website. They have something else on cspan3 right now, so I tried the house judiciary webcast, and it said the program was unavailable.

Tuesday 09/18/2007 - 11:00 AM
2141 Rayburn House Office Building
Full Committee

Hearing on Warrantless Surveillance and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act: The Role of Checks and Balances in Protecting Americans’ Privacy Rights (Part II)

The Honorable Mike McConnell
Director of National Intelligence
The Honorable Kenneth Wainstein
Assistant Attorney General for National Security United States Department of Justice

4. McConnell can't discuss some things in an open meeting
Of course. And those are the things that we are probably most interested in. How convenient.

8. I didn't change my position because the white house talked to me
Good Lord, the man is trying to pull an Alberto. Conyers is very frustrated with him. He says that they didn't tap any americans without a warrent, but they couldn't control who was on the other end of the line.

14. I heard the discussion about 200 hrs needed for every tap. But seems it would
take 200 with or without a warrent. did I get that straight?

17. I think that they were saying that they didn't believe that it took 200 hours
for each warrent.

I originally posted it because I didn't know that the hearing was delayed for voting and I wondered if anybody had heard anything about it.

"Its just not fair if a telecommunications company gets sued for helping the government out with National defense"

Yes, it IS fair to hold a company liable if they are breaking the law. The constitution doesn't confer rights to companies.
