Supposedly Reid has drawn the line in the sand.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has abruptly called off his plans to compromise with the White House on Iraq withdrawal proposals:

The Democratic leader said he will call for a vote this month on several anti-war proposals, including one by Sen. Carl Levin that would insist President Bush end U.S. combat next summer. The proposals would be mandatory and not leave Bush wiggle room, said Reid, D-Nev.

"There (are) no goals. It's all definite timelines," he told reporters of the planned legislation.

Greg Sargent has more at Election Central.

3. I sure hope so...
I know politics is "give and take," but I have been very disappointed with Reid & Co. being on what I perceive as the giving end and unwilling to really play Bush's style of brinkmanship. Shut the whole damn gov't down if need be. Just end the GD-war.

5. Harry Reid has had every opportunity to make an impact
on the Senate and the American voter, yet he hasn't done a thing to disrupt the Republican obstructionism or win over the hearts and minds of the voters. On MSNBC today Contessa Brewer kicked the shit out of the new RNC parrot, and I bet no one other than me noticed. Too bad Reid can't take lessons from a reporter on a minor news channel.
