4. I wondered if I should respond, then thought, well, yes |

I wanted to ask you what is the question, but then thought maybe I assumed too much.
And here I was thinking it was a simple question.

But easy to 'get' if you read the whole thing ....
He asks " What can WE LIBERAL PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS agree about ?"
Why are we so 'divided' ?
Easy question ..... hard answer ....
I do have an answer though: Hardly anything .....

2. That scrub is a crappy president |

I realize that's setting the bar rather low to find 100% agreement.
But...it's something.

3. I like to argue. I learn a lot from it, and I enjoy learning. |

Sometimes I'm right. Sometimes I'm wrong. I have strong opinions, but I also enjoy reading other peoples' opinions. That's why I love DU. It's a great place to express your opinions and read those of others. We agree about most things. We are learning from each other about the things we don't agree about. It's a great system.

6. That is what the Democratic party is. |
|
We are "We the people" Democracy is messy. What the Republican party had become is "agree with us, because we are absolutely sure." I actually feel a trite bad for them, but mostly I blame them for all the problems our country has.

We don't have to agree on everything to learn something from one another. In fact, one precludes the other. So a little bit of brawling happens from time to time. Keeps us sharp.

10. I could not agree with you more. |

I use to argue with with conservatives, until post 9/11 when they believed that they were absolutely right. The Democratic party is not the party of absolutes. We question things, and learn. How can anyone think he or she is absolutely right. Oh yeah, fundamentalist.

11. I used to argue with everyone... |

Liberals and Conservatives. Until after 9/11, when I realized the conservatives were out of their freaking minds. I knew that had a Democratic President done even a tenth of what Dubya had done in the first year, they've hit the ceiling.
And I called 'em on it.
