Something I think a lot of people missed about the UF taser incident.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqAVvlyVbag

At about 2:56 seconds into this movie Kerry says, "I'll answer his question but he isn't available to swear me in as President". He says this as the cops have this kid down just about to tase him. Yeah, I know...Kerry didn't see him being tased but Kerry did know the kid was dragged out by the police.

2. Damn Kerry,
He should have jumped on the back of the cops, stole their guns, and demanded that the sweet little kid be released...

Yeah that's the ticket!

5. Well, he didn't have his cape with him
Otherwise he'd have flown to the back of the auditorium, used his special mental stun powers, run around the cops at the speed of sound, and tied them upside down to the rafters while the music swelled in the background.

17. Don't forget, Kerry should also pay any medical or legal expenses incurred
by the inquisitive little angel.

4. Damn this is getting old
The kid was a disruptor. He was acting wild. I'd have allowed the cops to do their job too.

I guess John Kerry should have interfered with the actions of police officers. Yes, that is wise.

God this whole fucking thing is maddening. DUers should be smarter than this.

6. Disrupter, acting wild...
Kind of like that young John Kerry when he threw his medals over the WH fence eh?

8. No. not like that
Kerry was making a profound statement when he tossed his medals.

This kid could have made a profound statement, as he was given the floor for more time than the normal questioner. He could have, but instead chose to act stupid. And it was purposeful as he wanted attention for his blog.

He got what he wanted.

And for God's sake, Kerry could not have interfered with the police.

10. John Kerry threw medals over the WH fence as a practical joke?
Is that what you're saying?

14. Well, this is the first time I've seen the incident...
1) Kerry obviously is not at fault for what happened, and seems like he was trying to calm the situation down.

2) The student was obviously being a disruptive jerk.

3) If the police on hand weren't able to eject a disruptive jerk without resorting to such methods, their police work was piss-poor, if you ask me.

4) Since people mentioned Kerry's own record in demonstrations during Vietnam, no, I don't recall him ever acting like that, but lots of student radicals did, and even acted worse. By the standards of what I saw here, leaders of the time like Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, and even Tom Hayden and Jane Fonda would justifiably have been shot for their behavior.

5) And that's what I find chilling -- if cops feel free to resort to such methods for one loudmouthed, disruptive protester against a Democratic speaker, just what would they feel justified in doing to a protester against Bush personally, or even to a group of protesters at a march which they felt might get out of hand?

12. The kid was dragged out by police because the kids holding the event asked
the police to escort him out. Instead of listening to the police he resisted and then it escalated. Read some of the more detailed accounts over at Daily Kos. The kid was trying to create a scene. I don't think they needed to shock him but the police were only doing what they were asked to do and the kid oscillated it.

15. I don't think they shocked him. Or at least, shocked him with a full tasering.
I cannot figure out how they managed to taser him without getting shocked themselves. They were holding him. Other people have mentioned that the cops said they did not give him a full shock, which makes more sense to me.

16. I thought the same thing
I have seen video of people get a full load and they can barely stand up, this kid is up and still yappin afterward. If you watch the video, it seems like the female cop in front of him is telling him something a few times and then he starts struggling some more and she tasers him.

That brings up another point, were all the cops the ones that should be getting the crap around here or just the one that tasered him?
