Taser? Or murder?
A Clay County woman\'s family said it\'s seeking justice after their loved one died shortly after being shocked 10 times with Taser guns during a confrontation with police.

The family of 56-year-old Emily Delafield said it would take the Green Cove Springs Police Department to court, according to a WJXT-TV report.

In April 2006, officers with the police department said they were called to a disturbance at a home in the 400 block of Harrison Street just before 5 p.m.

\"One, she\'s in a wheelchair. Two, she\'s schizophrenic. Three, they\'re using a Taser on a person that\'s in a wheelchair, and then four is that they tasered her 10 times for a period of like two minutes,\" Alexander said.

1. 3, 2, 1...
Just waiting for the usual excuses.

She might have been asking some tough questions, so she obviously deserved it. /sarcasm

2. Well *I* would want the cops to be able to use WHATEVER means necessary...

...to apprehend wheelchair-bound mentally incapacitated people. I mean, what if she was faking and had a whole bunch of, like, mace and stuff hidden under her chair? Or she had, like, laser beams that came out of her eyes? Or kryptonite? Those boys PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE for the likes of you and me every day, and if some asswipe cripple with a diseased brain was going to fire flying steel teeth at them out through her muff and switch the whirling blades on her wheelchair to "EVISCERATE" I would want the good guys to WIN, however crack-addled their methods might seem to a bunch of panty-waisted LIBERALS.

People these days have NO RESPECT for the LAW. For some reason.

There you go.

6. She was swinging knives around.
If you had been a police officer, what would you have done?

11. She was in a wheel chair.
Can someone explain why the fuck the cops even NEEDED to be called in the first place?
Sounds to me like some family members just wanted the cops to do their dirty work.

7. She was in a wheelchair? They couldn't walk up behind her and restrain her?
Edited on Wed Sep-19-07 09:48 AM by in_cog_ni_to
She had 2 knives and a hammer and was in a wheelchair...there's NO WAY she could have been restrained with out the use of a taser.:eyes: GEEZUS. How pathetic.

8. She was crazy so it doesn't count.
This story reminds me a bit about the hassedic man in Brooklyn who was shot 44 times after being told to drop the hammer he was "threatening" people with. (he was banging the hammer on his own property that bordered a sidewalk)
That he was a diagnosed schizophrenic was a well-known fact in the community.
