17. I had cspan going on the computer
at the same time with Stephanie on the radio for the start so missed much. Plus I'm just getting my morning coffee here.
I did hear him say, paraphrasing it, that by not allowing habeas corpus here for accused, that sent a message to the international community to ignore habeas for U.S. citizens. Basically, if we do that here, others will feel free to do it elsewhere. Absolutely agree with him.

28. The Webb Amendment will be voted on today too! I heard on Washington Journal this morning
that the Dems have enough repubs who will now vote for it and pass it! :thumbsup: His amendment is for allowing the troops as much time off at home as what they serve. 18 months deployment will equal 18 months home.

Snowe's last minute vote change from Nay to Aye is a standard ploy. If her vote had been needed to avoid cloture, you can damn betcha she would have stuck to her Nay vote. By changing it after she knew there were more than enough votes, she can tell her mad as hell constituents that she voted Aye. She didn't vote Nay by accident. The Aye vote was an election-year ploy.
