Hypothetical question: If Meyer was questioning Bush should he been tasered?
These questions are mostly for those who support the tasering of Meyer:

If it was Bush instead of Kerry and if Meyer was asking Bush some hard questions in a similar manner, would you still agree that he should have been tasered? Would you still agree that the police acted in an appropriate manner?

Please explain why or why not.

1. My hatred of Bush would have definitely affected my opinion.
I would be even more aghast at the tasering.

2. Hypothetical answer
Someone suspected to be hostile to Bush who couldn't be commanded by a superior officer to behave himself would never be allowed in the room with Bush in the first place. Any questions that person might have would have to be submitted in writing, vetted by a team of researchers, and never be aired if it contained the least criticism, real or implied, of the Dear Leader.

5. Yep, disrupters don't get within 100 yards of Bush EVER..
the last disrupter I remember was the one who told Cheney to go fuck himself, and he was quickly hustled off by the secret service. By the way, THAT guy was a true hero, and not out to pull pranks or get himself on you-tube.

9. Are you saying Bush's way is better?
That at least Bush's way doesn't involve the use of tasers?

10. Hmmm, no I didn't say that at all
But if it comforts you to read your own preconceptions into what I wrote, go for it.

4. This had nothing to do with "questioning"
It had to do with resisting arrest

If a cop tells you your under arrest, you cooperate or suffer immediate consequences

That moment is not the time to discuss if the arrest is warranted or not

Why do so many act so ignorant about this?

6. So basically it is okay with you that the police stifle your free speech
in a public forum and have you hauled away? If you protest too much it is then okay for them to tase you even if they have you under their control?

It is fascinating to me that people give their freedom away so readily.

12. Some people are so fucking stupid, they don't know the
difference between resisting arrest and freedom of speech

They must trip over their shoe laces and shit on themselves, all day long

7. If he had been questioning Bush, or any other Republican, there would
be significantly fewer defenders of the cops or Bush or whoever the Republican was. And, there'd be endless praise for Meyer, and a movement to send him roses.

But, because it was "our" guy whose meeting was "disrupted" some sing the praises of the 4 heroic cops who managed to subdue 1 kid who was shooting his mouth off.

8. Yep.. there would have been fewer people supporting this if it were a Repuke
I think deep down most people know they have a double standard on this.
