Pope Refused to Meet with Condi Last Month Vatican says…(BBC)
Pope 'refused meeting with Rice'
By David Willey
BBC News, Rome

Pope Benedict XVI refused a recent request by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to discuss the Middle East and Iraq, Vatican sources say.

The Pope refused a request for an audience during the August holidays.

Senior Vatican sources told the BBC the Pope does not normally receive politicians on his annual holiday at the Castelgandolfo residence near Rome.

But one leading Italian newspaper said it was an evident snub by the Vatican towards the Bush administration.

1. Ahh, the fascist regime finally pisses off the vestiges of the
Nazi youth movement, aka Ratzinger-- eh? Well, I credit him for this move, I must admit. Maybe God does work in miraculous ways....

Lots of german's were nazi youth
you guys need to stop associating the pope with the nazis because of that. He can't really change where he was born or what regime he was born in to.

11. Ratzinger retains many fascist ideals....which he is putting to
practice--whether or not he was a willing member of the Nazi party or Nazi youth. For this reason, regardless of his past, many Catholics join me in refusing to accept him as Pope. The most horrendous policies coming from the end of John Paul's papacy, were nearly all from Ratzinger's influence. He was the Cheney to John Paul in his latter years and has picked up where he left off as "Pope."

2. Indeed.
Maybe her princessshipmanship assumed everybody would bow to her schedule and her preferences because that's just what she's used to considering who her arrogant wouldbe-dictator boyfriend is. I'm not necessarily a fan of ol' Benny, but this is A-OK.

4. The comment was made on NPR that she blew off the Vatican contingent
in Spring 2003 when they made an effort to try and talk the * administration out of invading Iraq...a.k.a. "Payback's a bizzle, Condi!!"

There is a real, actual photo of JPII with *, with his hand over his eyes, like he can't stand to look at the chimperor. This one is obviously photoshopped, but...

edit:
JPII did tell * off about his war, and this pic may illustrate that:

8. The Vatican has already said that the palestinians should have their own state.
Also, the war in Iraq is an unjust war. The U.S. is not doing enough to protect Christians in the middle east. He's already discussed these things with the Bush admin. So, why should he cut his vacation short?
