REPUBLICANS BLOCK Restoration of Habeas Corpus!
Let's be clear. It was a vote for cloture with 56 Yay, 43 Nay. The Republicans are filibustering a vote on restoring Habeas Corpus, WHICH WOULD PASS if voted upon.

The TRUE American Congressmen were short by 4 votes. The Fascists win this battle (and that is all it is). They will not succeed in destroying the Constitution.

But it's also CLEAR that the Republicans don't believe in the CONSTITUTION. The Republicans WANT A FASCIST STATE.

Spread the word!

43. I couldn't even get through!
To Snowe's office. I did get through to Collins, they are uncertain it is necessary because they THINK (NOT) it doesn't affect American Citizens???????????????
Does anyone in this state have an IQ over 90?
The Bangor Daily News bloggers have turned away from the viscious, disagreement over the Extreme House makeover to EEEEEEKKK Politics.
Impeach Baldacci he's ruining the state?
Keep Collins she's done so much for the state? ( Have any of them tried to declare bankruptcy lately?) How many have lost loved ones to the invasion & occupancy?
ANd that Tom ALLen..............he's a commie at least . He has shirked his duty by missing 100 votes in congress See we're paying him to do nothing! ( Isn't not voting a valid choice too?) especially in the 109th congress!
I'm terrified! Not of terrorists but of my fellow voters! Unequal tho they may be, they DO get to pull the lever!SEE The country is founded on a lie! All men are created equal. Should read ALl men should recieve equal opportunity.
And that's not working very well either at this point!

58. Maine congressional team
I always contact Senators Snowe & Collins as well as Congressperson Tom Allen. I can't say too many bad things about Allen...case in point...three years ago (in October) when there was a shortage of flu vaccine, my husband who has lung cancer in BOTH lungs & is also in the late stages of advanced emphysema, needed to get a flu shot. At that time no private physicians were receiving any flu vaccine & the only way to get a flu shot was to go to one of the very FEW flu shot clinics scheduled. My husband went to several here in southern Maine, arriving two hours before they were to begin, but was turned away & not even allowed to park by the local police. Obviously, my husband is in the high risk category - a bout of flu would definitely kill him. I immediately e-mailed all of the Maine congressional team. (I didn't expect a response form Collins --- she has NEVER answered any of the many e-mails I have sent her on various issues....Medicare, the War etc.) Tom Allen responded in 24 hours with an 800 number for my husband to give his physician (His doctor was not even aware of the number). The doctor called and found out that there was ONE dose of vaccine left at York Hospital & they would put it aside for my husband. My husband was more than willing to drive the 25 miles to the hospital, but because of the intervention of Tom Allen, a visiting nurse was at our house in less than 30 minutes!!! Oh, by the way, Sen. Snowe did respond...the following MAY with a list of flu clinics that had taken place the previous October ---- the same ones from which my husband was turned away!!!

At least, most, if not all Democrats seem to be caring people!!!! Can't say that about the Repukes!!!

And make them keep it going this time, don't just do a little show and then roll over. And if they succeed, reintroduce the same thing next week.

These Republicans will eventually give up and go back to their men's rooms or whatever.

... It's very simple it's all about the votes till there is at least 60 in the senate and good slice more in the house very little will get passed or move forward. The simple top and bottom of it they are keeping bush in power till enough Americans understand what is going on. Those extra seat are essential to move america forward following 08.

Taking habeas corpus out of our "Constitution"
devalues society as we knew it.
The whole discussion has been deluted by GOP ground control
and they have
largely been unchallenged on the issue because most of the
persons who are
affected by the change are either immigrants, supposed
terrorists or international suspects.

57. Fascist Republicans
Funny when the Republicans controlled the Senate they were all for up and down votes and ending filibusters. No longer does the Republican party stand for democracy and the Constitution, they shill for corporate America, serve the wealthy, while trying to build a fascist state. In the meantime in order to mask their intentions they sell fear to the American people, as they pour $trillions into exotic weapons that cannot stop a terrorist armed with a box cutter. President Eisenhower warned against this almost 50 years ago, clearly if the Republicans are put back in power, America will move further and further away from democracy until it no longer exists.

61. Sounds like we should write Letters to the Editors of our local papers
Asking why those 43 Republicans hate the Constitution and the rule of law?

Or, was it 42 Republicans and Lieberman?

Their response will be, "Lincoln did it and he is considered a great president." So, we should take the pre-emptive action of saying that while Lincoln did suspend habeus corpus, that was during a civil war that involved hundreds of thousands of soldiers on the soil of the United States of America.
