Taser Free!! 20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress - 16 Repubs, 4 Dems. From CREW
Edited on Wed Sep-19-07 03:00 PM by autorank

CREW releases "Beyond DeLay:

The 22 Most Corrupt Members of Congress
(and two to watch)"

Submitted by crew on 18 September 2007 - 9:20am. Beyond DeLay
Grabbed it here

Today, CREW released its third annual report on the most corrupt members of Congress entitled Beyond DeLay: The 22 Most Corrupt Members of Congress (and two to watch). This encyclopedic report on corruption in the 110th Congress documents the egregious, unethical and possibly illegal activities of the most tainted members of Congress. CREW has compiled the members’ transgressions and analyzed them in light of federal laws and congressional rules.

CREW also has re-launched the report’s tandem website, www.beyonddelay.org. The site offers short summaries of each member’s transgressions as well as the full-length profiles and all accompanying exhibits. Over the next couple weeks, Citizens Blogging will profile the members who made the list, although many will continue to show up in our daily posts because they are making news.

1. So, like, I should care?
Hell with that, I'm off to a taser thread.

Seriously, though, that list should be nailed to the doors of both Houses of Congress.

34. Can it be that Texas' culture of corruption has become corrupted?
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 07:40 AM by Orsino
Are they now too lazy to stay bought?

I don't want to slight Texans in general, mind you, but the Lone Star Lege is legendarily corrupt.

On edit: Ah, but that's at the State level, and I guess the really big money is in national office.

35. We are. We have more land and little people so the complex
mathematics of this: three times FBI divided by Veco minus hulk ties and illegal land purchases equals screwed.

10. The interesting word is "most".
Which leaves a lot of wiggle room and "not as bad" for the 513 lesser criminals.

22. That got me looking. Ted's gotta be there;) There's a reason.

The Alaska Democrats are the first party to openly call election fraud on an election, 2004.
You probably know the story better than I do, but they spoke up and they had a good case.

That's some difference. You get elected that way, if there was fraud, and the sky is the limit
once you get the nation's capitol. Or maybe, the dreadful corrupting rating indicates a
predisposition to be "on the take" etc.

I remember Alaska Sen. Greuning, who voted against the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. He and Sen Wayne
Morse, OR - both Republicans.

According to the Division of Elections' vote reports that were produced by the state's Diebold computer system and are posted on the Division's official web site, a far larger number of votes were cast than the official totals reported in the statewide summary. In the case of President George Bush’s votes, the district-by-district totals add up to 292,267, but his official total was only 190,889, a difference of 101,378 votes. In the U.S. Senate race, Lisa Murkowski received 226,992 votes in the district-by-district totals, but her official total was only 149,446, a difference of 77,546 votes.

33. Mine, too.
David Scott seems only to be a tax evader, though, rather than someone engineering legislation for personal gain (my main definition of "corrupt"). I'm more outraged by his stupid support for anti-gay legislation.

18. K&R... and as much as I like Murtha...it's like Politicians to put someone out who could be corrupt
Edited on Wed Sep-19-07 04:34 PM by KoKo01
to give a message. Now Repugs can rail on about the Corrupt Murtha all over Russert and Tweety screaming about troop problems and break down and the rest while all the while he had his hand in the back pocket of the Pentagon and the Arms Makers. He might have been a "good guy" in this trying to put in some halts or stop gaps or working to defund the most aggregious projects...but how would we know?

Could things get much lower? Much worse? Send out Murtha as some kind of "False Flag" bring him down in time for 2008? I don't know whether he deserves this from CREW or not...but there have been stories about him. Maybe he was sincere in what he did....but, how would we know with BOTH PARTIES in on the Military/Industrial Complex.

Sad...

29. Attention: This thread NOW has TASERS

Nobody from my state either. Wow, this country is in trouble if at least a couple of them can't make it. I think Tom Davis (R-VA) should be there. He was RCCC chairman two terms running. He should be #1 retired.

31. My New Mexico heart is going pitty-pat right now! Stories..
...make the rounds here which say that this guy died sometime ago, but they keep tying him into his chair and propping him up because New Mexico is famous for its political corruption and Old Pete is *the* standard bearer for just such an ethic! What's a little graft amongst friends, after all?

You bring the taser, and I'll hold him down! (Like Bill Maher, I hasten to add: "I kid the Senator!")
